Friday's Injury Updates - Carter, Stafford, Nugent-Hopkins...
Jeff Carter was activated from the IR and will be in the lineup for the Blue Jackets tonight. With all the trade rumors, you get the idea that this may be one of his last games in Columbus.
Drew Stafford is dealing with an illness which is why he did not play against the Rangers. He should be OK to go tomorrow at the Islanders.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins shed his non-contact jersey but did not play for the Oilers last night. He is all all but certain to play tomorrow night, however.
Andrei Markov skated for the second consecutive day yesterday but he's still a long way from returning. I'd honestly be shocked if we saw him on the ice this season.
Mike Green skated in practice for the Capitals yesterday. There's still no timetable for his return, however.
Mikko Koivu is getting closer to a return but it will not be tomorrow night according to the Wild.
Marc-Andre Bergeron skated in practice wearing a non-contact jersey for the Lightning but did not play last night. His return date is still uncertain.
Lee Stempniak was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain and he's expected to miss at least 6 weeks.
Adam Larsson apparently left last night's game after a knee injury. No new info on this yet.
Chad LaRose didn't play last night as he was battling a sickness of some sort.
Nikita Nikitin was finally placed on IR by the BJ's for those of you who were waiting it out.
Returning to action last night: Dustin Byfuglien, Ryane Clowe, Alexander Burmistrov, Jaroslav Spacek, Tomas Holmstrom, Cam Barker, Jerred Smithson, Francis Bouillon

The original time period for Green was 4-6 weeks. He had his surgery two weeks ago and is on track becuase originally they said he would be able to skate after two weeks. That means 2-4 more weeks. He says that he already feels a lot better than before the surgery which is good news.
Thanks for the solid info, dakk.

This just in
Jimmy Howard has broken finger on his right (stick) hand
says he will miss next 2 games before re-eval Tues.
I am not a fortunate Howard owner this season but as a Wings fan got to be hopeful because Conklin is next in line?
anybody holding a goalie with a cheap or expiring contract could win the lottery if Detroit feels the need to upgrade.
Maybe Nabokov finally gets to become a Wing?

I hope not
would hate to go into the playoffs with Nabby as the contingency plan

Nabokov would be excellent in Detroit
He’s got a GAA under 2.40 and a Save% just over .920…on a very poor team.
You have to think he’d do at least that, if not better, w/ the Wings.

maybe I am mistaken but didn’t he get run out of San Jose because he folded against good teams in the playoffs.
I really should pay better attention to west coast clubs
