Late start today and gotta get the chili & pulled pork on for the Super Bowl party, so will keep this brief...
Confidence is nice... Sam Gagner picked up points on the first three Oilers goals last night and that was 11 in a row over the past two games. He also put seven shots on net and with the way things are going he should be shooting from his own end right now cause everything is going in.
Also with the Oilers, Ryan Whitney had 2A while logging a season high 24:52 last night and has 1+4=5 over a three game point streak. Take advantage cause you never know when his ankles/feet are going to give way.
Back-to-back shutouts for James Reimer as he stopped 49 bloody shots last night against Ottawa. I wasn't able to snag him in any of my leagues but hopefully you bought low on him when I was talking him up about a week ago. He is the superior option for the Leafs, maybe Ron Wilson has figured it out.
Fantasy line & knock-out of the night go to Ilya Kovalchuk as he posted the Gordie Howe Hat-Trick with 1+2=3, four shots and seven PIMs while dropping Brayden Schenn like a bag of hammers. That goes nicely with the 3A he posted last game.
Good night to be old in Tampa as Martin St.Louis posted the hat-trick to extend his point streak to nine games (6+10=16) and Vincent Lecavalier had a 4-point night and he's been very productive with 10+16=26 over his last 23 games going back to December.
Mathieu Garon only had to stop 17 of 20 to run his record to 5-0-1 in his last six games.
Mikael Samuelsson notched one for the Panthers last night and has 4+1=5 during a four game point streak.
Mike Fisher couldn't stopping scoring if he wanted to these days, a goal last night gives him seven in his last seven games. Somebody with more times on their hands then me should figure out of if Fisher - Martin Erat & Sergei Kostitsyn is the hottest line in hockey right now... or does it just seem like it? Erat had 1+2=3 last night and has 4+12=16 over his last 13 games.
Goals in three straight games (4G in total) for Zach Parise.
Not sure what this means but Marek Zidlicky returned to the lineup after being scratched for four games and played 23:28 with 4:34 on the PP.
The Avs have called up Tyson Barrie and he'll replace Stefan Elliott, who is heading back to the AHL. Both of these guys have promising futures but you need to give them time.
