Dio's Free Agents & Trade Targets post convinced me to reluctantly pick up Martin Hanzal on Sunday and what a genius move by me after two goals (PPG & GWG) last night. He now has 3+2=5 over his last three games... guess I'll keep him around for a bit.
One key for Hanzal is taking feeds from Ray Whitney as the Wizard still has the magic touch with 2+6=8 & plus-5 during a five game point streak. He's on pace for 72 points right now.
Not only is Sam Gagner putting up points like Gretzky lately but he's getting the same kind of preferential treatment from the official scorers as he was given a gift assist after a puck hit him in the ass last night. That gives him 6+7=13 during a four game point streak.
He's been overshadowed by Gagner lately but Jordan Eberle had two goals last night and has 6+3=9 during his own four game streak... this moves him up to 7th in league scoring.
Despite taking the loss in the Hawks last game, Coach Q is going with Ray Emery tonight as he is the preferred option to a struggling Corey Crawford right now... let's see if Ray can run with it.
There are a lot of Leafs surging right now... Mikhail Grabovski with 2A to extend his point streak to six games (3+9=12), Clarke MacArthur has awoken and has 5+4=9 & plus-7 over a five game stretch and back-to-back beauty stat-lines for Phil Kessel for a combined 3+3=6, plus-6 & 12 shots.
Now with the Leafs dmen... Jake Gardiner scored and was a plus-3, so that's 2+4=6 & plus-9 over his last six games and Dion Phaneuf had a monster night with 2A, plus-1, seven hits & seven blocks.
Can't forget about James Reimer as his shutout streak ended but he stopped 27 of 30 for his third straight win... but we'll likely see Gustavsson in the net tonight.
It was the sixth straight start for Devan Dubnyk but he's now given up 4+ goals in three straight... they weren't exactly a schedule of cupcakes though as it came against TOR, DET & CHI and the Oilers are just horrid defensively (looking at you Cam Barker).
Lubomir Visnovsky 's ice-time under Bruce Boudreau has been cut from the big minutes he was playing for Randy Carlyle but he seems to be responding as he has 1+7=8 over his last 10 games.
The Wings went with Joey MacDonald in goal last night over Ty Conklin but he took the loss. I can see the Wings going out and getting a veteran shortly.
The Stars are planning on using their backup more often down the stretch as Coach Glen Gulutzan has said that he doesn't want to wear Kari Lehtonen out, so look to see Richard Bachman a little more frequently. He's made just four appearances in the Stars past 16 games.
Anthony Stewart & Zach Hamill are on waivers... both are former 1st rounders but now they both suck, so I don't want anything to do with them and I doubt any NHL team is interested either.
The Wild gave Nate Prosser a two-year extension and it's of the one-way varietal... so he's as close to a lock to be on the team next year as you can get.
Aaron's are wild!.... rising up from the A is Aaron Ness and going down is Aaron Palushaj.
