Thomas for ?
I've had an inquiry from the 6th place team in my league about acquiring Tim Thomas. Some of you may recall my rebuild post from a couple of weeks ago.
The top 8 make the post-season and it's a ten roster spot keeper league. Right now, I've got Harding, Thomas, Bernier, and Varlamov in net.
This manager doesn't have a 1st or 3rd round pick in next season's draft and it looks as if he's looking to account for the possibility of an extended Jimmy Howard injury.
His roster features the following: Both Sedins, Gerbe, Zubrus, Cogliano, Drew Miller, Jannik Hansen, Giroux, Downie, Karlsson, Kurtis Foster, Ryan Suter, Timonen, Datsyk, Clutterbuck, Williams, Higgins, Foligno, Hodgson, Conklin, Joey McDonald, Quick, Emery, and Howard.
What should my first salvo be?

Tough to say without knowing what he’s looking for. I don’t really like much on his roster beyond Giroux, Karlsson & Howard.
What does the typical goalie go for in this league?… how valuable are draft picks?

I’m with Cam, he wants your top goalie do a switch for Howard
I assume you are still out of the playoff race.
He has a top goalie on a top team for the playoffs
you are set up for next season, and beyond, without the inevitable Thomas vs Rask questions sure to come
or If you want offense from what I got in your other post you would start next season with
Tavares, Duchene, Weber, Enstrom, Couture, D. Brown, Oshie, Stastny, Varlamov, Thomas
10 keepers
pretty good starting point upgrade the weakest keeper

My intent was to flip Thomas for Howard and go into next season with Master’s keeper list with just that one change. I’d also like to pull a draft pick out of the deal, but he’s been mum.
If we don't get our sauce, we ain't watching the game!
I don’t see getting Howard plus a pick for 38 yr old Thomas I know I wouldn’t give it to you though if I were looking to win this season I would probably ask for a pick from you as you would be getting the better keeper

I think he’d be a little crazy to trade Howard but it’s worth a shot… good deal for you if you can make it happen.

I’ve now got a Thomas + Brown and my last pick for Khabibulin + Lecavalier + 1st round pick offer from another manager.
If we don't get our sauce, we ain't watching the game!
Not bad, worth considering but how valuable is the pick if each team is keeping 10 guys? I think I’d rather have Thomas next year than a 1st rounder but tell me if I’m wrong.

It’s basically whether Vinny and an extra first are worth Thomas, the way I see it. That would give me Stastny, Duchene, Oshie, Vinny, Couture, Taveres, Weber, Enstrom, Varlamov and Bernier? as keepers with two picks in the first round.

I think Thomas is the more valuable keeper, so I probably wouldn’t do it.
