Monday's Daily Dosage - Elliott, Ovechkin, Rolston...

Not a good sign when you need a goal and this guy is on the ice

Goddam Brian Elliott killed me yesterday, I needed PHX to put one lousy puck past him and they couldn't meet my lofty goal... in fact, even if the game continued perpetually, I don't think the Coyotes would have scored, they were pathetic and really didn't even look like they were trying. There were key moments in the 3rd when both they & I needed a goal and clowns like BizNasty, Chipchura & Bolduc were on the ice!?! So Elliott stopped all 20 shots for his second straight shutout and eighth of the season... good for you.

Goals in five straight games for Alex Ovechkin as he's flipping on the nitro with nine goals & 34 shots over his last seven games. He might still hit 40 goals & 300 shots this year.

I mentioned yesterday that this was more than a coincidence... Brian Rolston with two more points last night to run his point streak to six games (3+8=11 & plus-8). I grabbed him in the FHS Delta league and am counting on him to lead me to victory this week.

Martin Brodeur really looked like he was having another strong 2nd half surge until this past eight days happened as he gave up 16 goals over four starts to go 0-3-1 with a .861 sv%. Now his numbers are looking eerily similar to last year's disappointing season.

Braden Holtby with the 28 save shutout yesterday and he has turned in three straight solid outings since being recalled and with Neuvirth having given up 4+ goals in four of his last five, this should be Holtby's job until Vokoun is ready to return.

Devan Dubnyk beat the CBJs for the 2nd time in the past 11 days to run his streak to 5-0-1, 1.62 & .946. I'm riding him and Holtby (along with Howard & Elliott) right now in a league where I'm catching up on goalie games.

Stephen Weiss extended his point streak to six games (3+4=7) with a goal yesterday. He looks like he should top 60 points for the third time in the last four seasons... not elite but it's solid production.

What a late season boost for those of us that held on to Sidney Crosby as he now has 2+11=13 & plus-9 in seven games since his return.

Mike Fisher is on a decent little run with at least a point in seven of eight (4+4=8) and he is getting very close to his pb's in goals (25) & points (53).

Alexander Radulov once again led all Preds forwards in ice-time with 20:37 last night while extending his point streak to three games with an assist, plus-2 & five shots.

Alex Pietrangelo with two more points last night and he now has 2+10=12 over his last 11 games and at this rate he could finish the year as the 2nd highest scoring dman behind Karlsson. He is also top 10 in shots by a dman and sports a robust plus-17.

The Bruins scored one of the top college FAs as they signed smallish dman Torey Krug to an ELC. Krug just finished his third season at Michigan St with 12+22=34 in 38 games. These guys are worth the risk for NHL teams as the price is right but they rarely work out for your fantasy team.

The Stars have signed Reilly Smith out of Miami U, he was their 3rd round pick in 2009 and had back-to-back strong years with 28 & 30 goals while being a Hobey Baker finalist this season. He'll join the Stars and could see some big league action down the stretch.

On the day brother Reilly joins the NHL, Brendan Smith is headed back to the AHL now that Lidstrom is healthy.
