I'm trying to catch up on Dman games in one league, so D are on my mind...
Slava Voynov with the first goal & GWG in last night's game and he has a decent 4+5=9 & plus-8 over his last 17 games. He has only logged 52 NHL games this season but is playing at a 32 point pace (per-82 games), so he looks like a solid breakout candidate for next season.
I grabbed Eric Brewer on Sunday due to the Lightning's four game sked this week and he came through last night with A, plus-2 & four hits. He has 0+4=4, plus-4, 12 hits & 14 blocks over his last five games.
Also heating up on the Tampa defence is Victor Hedman as he scored last night and has 1+4=5 over his last four games. He is finally starting to see some decent PP time.
Yikes... Mike Green has just one assist over his last 23 games going back to October. At some point he has to be over the injuries and so not re-gaining his form is concerning.
Jason Chimera hit 20 goals & 200 shots last night, pretty respectably totals for this career grinder. Add to it that he also dropped the gloves with Ryan Malone and is up to 76 PIMs on the season and he is having himself a productive season.
Alexander Semin with two points last night and did you know after all the crap everyone has been giving him this season that he is at 52 points now (2nd on the Caps) and has 2+6=8 over his last seven games. Still lower than what you were expecting but cmon, he's not Scott Gomez.
Steven Stamkos seems determined to get to 60 goals as he scored 57 & 58 last night and has 8+3=11 & 30 shots over his last six games. He has a 10 goal lead on 2nd place (Malkin) & 18 on 3rd (Gaborik).
Jonathan Quick with the 19 save shutout of the Oilers last night, he has three clean sheets in his last six starts and a league leading 10 on the season. Certainly helps when you've only faced an average of 22.8 shots/gm over the past six games. The reduction in shots around the league this season is disturbing.
Anyone remember Sam Gagner's eight point game?... well maybe you do but don't forget that he also has just 3+3=6 over his last 20 games.
No Adam Larsson for the Devils tonight as he is expected to be a healthy scratch for the fourth straight game. He started the season playing 20+ minutes in each of the first 15 games but has been lucky to get close to that level lately.
