Sunday's Injury Updates - Fowler, Versteeg, Kulikov, Kopitar

This was the only ice that Anze Kopitar was able to see yesterday. - Harry How

An update on injuries to NHL players.

Kris Versteeg didn't get in on the scoring fun yesterday because he didn't play. The Panthers aren't saying what the injury is, either, so I've got nothing for you.

Cam Fowler didn't get into the opener last night as he has a nasty case of the sniffles (flu). It's supposedly a bad one so he might miss another one.

Jiri Hudler's father passed away, sadly, so he may miss today's game. He flew all the way out to the Czech Republic to be with his family so I'd say he likely won't be in the lineup.

Anze Kopitar (knee) missed yesterday's opener, though he was well enough to be on the ice for the banner raising. Hopefully that's somewhat of a good sign but I'd anticipate him being out another 1-2 weeks.

Danny Briere (wrist) didn't play yesterday and he won't play today. He's still donning the yellow jersey in practice but it shouldn't be long.

Dmitry Kulikov didn't get into the opener yesterday as he's supposedly not ready to play. He was playing over in the KHL prior to the lockout so I'm not sure how it could be a conditioning issue. I guess it was a mental thing?

Brent Burns is day to day and he's going to be so for "a while" according to coach Todd McLellan. That doesn't sound good.

Speaking of San Jose Sharks defensemen, Jason Demers (wrist) also missed yesterday's game and he, too, is day to day. Isn't that special?!

Todd Bertuzzi must have kissed one too many chicks as he somehow has mono. We don't see that too often in sports but it sounds like he'll miss a couple of weeks.
