Thursdays Halloween Schedule
Anaheim @ Boston
you know about the plethora of lame Ducks
Sheldon Souray on IR right wrist surgery
Matt Beleskey on IR UBI
Viktor Fasth on IR LBI
Jakob Silfverberg on IR broken right hand
Saku Koivu on IR head
Teemu Selanne (oral surgery) will miss a couple weeks after getting carved like a pumpkin by Luke Schenn on Tuesday.
seems there are a few now getting healthy
Dustin Penner (concussion) in the lineup against Boston.
With Teemu Selanne out, seems a spot in the 2nd line is open for one of either Penner or Kyle Palmieri
My guess with his 2 goals Tuesday Palmieri gets first crack.
Luca Sbisa (ankle) is practicing with The Ducks he hopes to return on Saturday vs. Bruins or Monday vs. the Rangers.
for Boston there is still no timetable on Loui Eriksson (concussion)
Buffalo @ NY Rangers
New York Rangers
Rick Nash (concussed) no timetable
Carl Hagelin (shoulder) made his season debut Tuesday night.
He missed the start of the season after offseason shoulder surgery. The speedy Hagelin picked up an assist and 4 PIM's in 16:00 min of ice time.
Nashville @ Phoenix
Filip Forsberg out (healthy scratch) for the 2nd time in the last 4
Viktor Stalberg in the lineup for the first time in 4 games
Roman Josi (concussion) is in the lineup for tonight's game at Phoenix.
Predators head coach Barry Trotz plans to give him "top four" minutes, he's mostly been skating with Kevin Klein in practice. Given the perpetual dismal state of Nashville offense when it comes is generally from the blue line, I just stay clear of Predators, seems safer that way.
Lauri Korpikoski (upper-body) is in the Coyotes lineup for tonight's match with the Predators.
the rest of the news
Semyon Varlamov will make an appearance in a Denver court at 10 AM Thursday as he has been charged with second degree kidnapping and third degree assault. I don't want to make any speculation here as I don't have a clue, the easy thing would be a joke referencing Patrick Roy's somewhat explosive temper, but this seems rather a serious and personal matter. Hope you have your handcuff err... your back up Jean-Sebastien Giguere ready to go.
Apparently they are blaming it all on Steve Downie as he has been traded to Philly
Detroit Red Wings
Danny DeKeyser paired with Niklas Kronwall last night.
DeKeyser has been solid to start his first full NHL campaign. He has logged 20-plus minutes in all of the last five games and is averaging exactly 20 minutes through 12 games. He has two assists and a plus-3 rating, but the move to the top-pair should give him a fantasy boost.
Johan Franzen, who missed Wed. tilt in Vancouver wirth an undisclosed injury, reportedly will play on Friday vs. Calgary.
Darren Helm (back/groin) still on track to play Saturday at Edmonton.
Patrick Eaves (ankle) season debut. Despite the love that Babcock and the Red Wings faithful have for him he doesn't play enough minutes at even strength or on the power play for much fantasy value.
San Jose Sharks
Dan Boyle (concussion) who has been skating with the team missed his seventh straight game last night. He could potentially return to the Sharks lineup on Saturday versus Phoenix
Brent Burns missed his fifth consecutive game with a mouth/beard injury he suffered Oct. 19. Consider him questionable for Saturday vs. Phoenix
Matthew Nieto sat out last night with a hand injury he suffered blocking a shot on Saturday.
Jeff Skinner (upper body) has been ruled out for Carolina's next two games.
Alex Ovechkin (upper-body) is not at Capitals practice this morning.
The Capitals are calling Ovechkin day-to-day. Washington doesn't play until Friday, so there is a good chance Ovechkin could be in the lineup. Monitor his status after Friday's morning skate.
Dmitri Orlov has been recalled from AHL Hershey. He has more offensive potential than John Erskine who will be out this weekend. The 22 yr. old Orlov has 20 points in 65 NHL games
Jonas Brodin, broken cheekbone, skated on Wednesday, a chance that he will be in the lineup on Friday.
Charlie Coyle will return Friday after missing 11 games with a sprained knee.
seems Coyles return has Mike Yeo in an experimental mood,
Wednesday's practice lines
Zach Parise - Charlie Coyle - Dany Heatley / Justin Fontaine
Nino Niederreiter - Mikko Koivu - Kyle Brodziak
Matt Cooke - Mikael Granlund - Jason Pominville
Fontaine/Heatley - Zenon Konopka - Torrey Mitchell
Yeah, didn't really excite me much either.
Sadly Heatley being run out on the 4th line does sort of fall in line with my disappointing player prediction.
Columbus Blue Jackets
Boone Jenner (leg) will not play this weekend.
Tim Thomas (groin) participated in Panthers practice on Wednesday, but left early.
Panthers play on Friday and Saturday, might be used in a back-to-back situation.
David Perron (illness) did not dress Tuesday night vs Toronto.
Now there are reports of back and neck pain possibly a symptom of the ilness you might want to keep up with this one though.
Denis Grebeshkov has been placed on waivers.
Grebeshkov has no points and is a plus-1 while averaging 11:36 TOI in three games with the Oilers.
