Your Havlat Report
NHL Schedule for Thursday, December 12, 2013
7:00 PM EST
Marian Gaborik has been skating the last week, but there is still no timetable for his return. Yeah i was just teasing with the photo, Gaborik has missed the last 4 weeks with a sprained knee. His original timetable was four-to-six weeks, so a return to the ice should be iminent.
Here's one that ought to have the old timers smirking.
Derick Brassard (lower-body) will not play tonight. The LBI is a bruised tailbone, I'm thinking this is one Brassard is wishing was left of the mystery variety.
Ryan Callahan, as Clint mentioned yesterday, suffered a second degree MCL sprain on Tuesday and will be out four-to-six weeks. This is still the case.
Marc Staal's installment onto the IR with another concussion, Rangers have recalled Dylan McIlrath who will make his NHL debut tonight. Not much of a fantasy upside there however deep, multi cat leagues might be able to use his physical presence.
Rene Bourque (upper-body) is not with the team in Philadelphia. Bourque will miss his 5th consecutive, and nine of the last 11.
Cody Hodgson (LBI) will miss tonight's game, and is day-to-day.
Jared Cowen has been suspended two games for his hit on Buffalo Sabres center Zemgus Girgensons Tuesday night
Marc Methot will not play tonight against Buffalo due to flu-like symptoms.
Cody Ceci has been called up and will make his NHL debut tonight.
7:30 PM EST
Henrik Zetterberg has been placed on LTIR, meaning he will be ineligible to play before Dec 28th versus Florida.
Stephen Weiss will not play tonight with his reinjured or never healed groin.
Jimmy Howard will have an MRI on his knee to determine the nature and severity of the injury.
The Red Wings said on Wednesday that they don't believe Howard's injury is serious, although how that has been determined I'm not so sure. For now Jonas Gustavsson will take over and Petr Mrazek will likely remain as his backup.
Victor Hedman, according to Lightning coach John Cooper, is out at least another week, and is not expected to travel with team on their upcoming 3-game road trip.
8:00 PM EST
Joffrey Lupul (groin) was on the ice for 18:34 versus the KIngs on Wednesday night putting 4 SOG and 4 PIM's so I'd say his recovery has gone well.
Craig Smith (flu) will be a game-time decision tonight. After missing two games with the flu, I would assume he is nearly ready.
Evander Kane (lower-body) has not skated since last week and is now considered "more than day-to-day".
It looks as though this minor injury is will keep him out of a 5th straight contest.
9:00 PM EST
Curtis Glencross (knee) who has been skating, is still listed as questionable for Thursday's contest.
Brian Strait (upper-body) who's been out since October 22, will play tonight.
Mike Smith (Flu) who did not play Tuesday night will start in goal tonight vs Islanders.
9:30 PM EST
Ryan Smyth (neck) who missed Tuesday's game skated this morning and could play tonight.
Loui Eriksson (concussion) on IR after suffering his second concussion of the year.
Dougie Hamilton (LBI) out 2 - 4 weeks.
10:30 PM EST
Marty Havlat is still skating.
