Monday’s Injury News

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Key injury news and notes from around the NHL

Calgary Flames

Sean Monahan ended up with a fracture in his foot and is expected to be out for a week or two. These kind of injuries are always tricky, hopefully the discomfort doesn’t linger. He’s been great with 15 points through 24 games.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Brandon Dubinsky skated over the weekend but is still day-to-day with a foot injury. It sounds like his nearing a return.

Dallas Stars

Tyler Seguin missed Sunday’s game as a result of concussion like symptoms. This is scary news. I’ve said before that I have given up on predicting a time table for return from concussions. At this point all we can do is wait and hope that more information is released.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Cody Franson was apparently limping in the locker room after suffering a lower body injury in warm-ups over the weekend. He is listed as day-to-day so hopefully this is only a minor issue. He’s been a bit one dimensional this year, filling assists (13) and not much else.

Winnipeg Jets

Evander Kane left Friday’s tilt against Philadelphia with a lower body injury. According to a report he is unlikely to dress for Monday’s game and should be considered day-to-day. I have Kane in a keeper pool and admittedly he has been frustrating this year. There have been glimpses of the multi-category dominance we are all pining for, followed by stretches where he looks almost invisible. I wonder if he’ll have to depart Winnipeg to realize his full fantasy potential.
