Fantasy Hockey News for Monday

A fantasized look at the NHL action from Sunday night

Aleksander Barkov with 1G, +3, 4SOG, 1 BS last night in 17:57 of ice time. He appears to be hitting his stride as he has 8 points in his last 9 games.

One on the few bright spots on the Sabres is Christian Ehrhoff as he's had 9 points in his last 13 games. He's worth a look in most leagues. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets traded to a more potent offensive team as Buffalo's been in rebuild mode as of late.

James Neal just may have won some owners their week with a clutch 3+2=5, 4PIM, 5SOGs, 2PPGs, 2PPAs. He's got the undisputed Fantasy Line of the Night as it appears as if he's not missing Malkin too much.

Your other notable Penguins were Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz with 1+2=3 each.

Jaden Schwartz has been on fire lately with a 5 game goal scoring streak after burying another last night. What's most encouraging is that he had 19 minutes of action last night which is surprising since Ken Hitchcock tends to lean on his veterans. The trust is there, the confidence is there, there's no reason why this kid won't continue to be successful in St. Louis for at least the duration of the season.

The diminutive Mats Zuccarello has been quietly putting up a fantastic season for the Rangers and after 1+2=3 on the night, he has 9+19=28 on the year. It's certainly quite ironic how New York is being dragged along, not by their stars Rick Nash, Brad Richards or Henrik Lundqvist, but by Zuccarello and Cam Talbot.

Tyler Johnson has really done a commendable job filling the massive void left by Steven Stamkos. The undrafted forward scored last night and is worth a look in deeper leagues.

Jonathan Bernier got shelled again facing 43 shots but turned stood on his head and turned away 41 for the impressive win against the Hurricanes.

Tyler Bozak returned with an immediate impact. He put 3 assists on the board, 2 of which were on Phil Kessel's 19th and 20th goals on the season.

Look to Nathan Gerbe if you're in need of some short term offense. After a goal last night he's put up 9 points in his last 10 games.

Eddie Lack with the fill-in for the injured Roberto Luongo and did just fine with an 18 save shutout over the Flames.

High scoring affair between the Wild and Islanders:

Thomas Hickey did his best Erik Karlsson impression with 1+2=3, +4, 4BS (jokes Karlsson would never be +4 with 4BS in a game)

Kyle Okposo continues his breakout campaign with 2+1=3,+2,6SOGs.

Josh Harding's seen better days after allowing 5 on 31 shots last night. The same can't be said for Kevin Poulin who allowed 4 on 37 shots as he's seen many nights like this.

Logan Couture finally got the monkey off of his back and scored last night. He has 31 points on the season which is solid, but remarkable considering that, prior to last night, he had gone 7 games without a point and 11 without a goal.
