A fantasized look at the NHL injury news on Tuesday morning
The Rangers are being pretty nonchalant with Brad Richards' scary upper body injury as Torts says "he'll be fine". Richards did report that his head and neck "are not an issue" but he is sore and didn't skate yesterday. No word yet on how long he'll be out.
Give Jose Theodore around 5-6 weeks to get over his ripped groin.
And more goalies going down... Mathieu Garon left last night's game with a LBI, no word on the severity.
Martin Havlat's LBI will likely keep him out for at least the next two games.
How bad is the snow in the midwest... anyone?... Dustin Byfuglien had to take care of some business in Minnesota yesterday and was going to try to join the Jets in Florida for tonight's game but the weather may decide otherwise.
Matt Read was supposed to be out for six weeks with ripped rib cage muscles and by my math he's only missed two weeks so far. He was at Flyers practice yesterday and is talking like he might return this weekend.
Jack Johnson has missed the past four games with a shoulder injury but could return to the lineup tonight.
Matt Frattin (knee) is ready to go but was a late scratch last night, so likely Wednesday for his return. The Leafs also reported that Joffrey Lupul (forearm) is feeling much better as he continues to skate... but there is no return date set.
Andrej Meszaros (shoulder) is making progress and could return for Philly this week.
Evgeni Malkin returned last night after sitting out four games with that head injury but the head seemed fine and his hands weren't too rusty either...
