The Leafs recently dynamic duo of Nazem Kadri & Clarke MacArthur was at it again as each scored last night and picked up the primary assist on the other's goal. Mac is a nice add as he's quietly put together a five game point streak (3+3=6 & plus-8) while Kadri is playing with a buttload of confidence right now with 4+4=8 over his last four games. The puck seems to be following this kid around.
I don't mention Steven Stamkos much in this space as we all know what he's about but his line from last night deserves some pub... two goals, four shots, four hits & 14 FOWs.
Let's mention Jeff Carter's natural hat-trick last night... ok, done. Guess we can also mention that Carter now has 10 goals in his last 10 games.
Slava Voynov had the less flashy hat-trick of assists in 26 minutes of action for the Kings and now has 1+5=6 over his last six games. His ice-time is up about three minutes over last season (averaging 21:51/gm).
Jonathan Bernier won his fifth straight start and he's given up exactly one goal in each which leads to pretty sweet numbers with a 1.53 gaa & .933 sv%.
A goal last night for Matt Beleskey and he has five already this season to go with 53 hits & 31 PIMs. He lined up with Getzlaf & Perry last night, so ride this horse while it's running.
WTF is happening here???...Kyle Chipchura with two more assists and he has 4+5=9 & plus-9 over his last 10 games. He played a season high 14:52 last night.
No action necessary yet but I'm keeping an eye on Tampa rookie Alex Killorn as he's filling in for Pouliot on the Lightning 2nd line with Vinny & Purcell. He's played 16+ minutes in each of his last three games and has the look of a decent player with good size who likes to shoot the puck. Before being called up to Tampa he had 13+13=26 & 103 shots in his last 24 AHL games... nice. Sorry Lovejob, I may have a new favourite player!
Not my favourite right now is the Leafs Mike Kostka as after starting the year by logging 22+ minutes in each of his first 10 games, he's been under 22 in 10 of his last 13 (just 18 minutes last night) as his PP time has plummeted.
Two big disappointments for the Devils this season are Adam Henrique, with just 1+1=2 in his last 10 games and his numbers are down across the board, and Travis Zajac, with only 2+1=3 over his last 16 games while averaging over 20 mpg on the season.
Nashville snatched Bobby Butler off the waiver wire. We'll keep an eye on him for ya, the Preds need anyone who can score and Butler has those types of skills, so we'll see if they give him some opportunities.
Get excited all you Jason Arnott fans out there!... no I'm not sending you back to 1993 in a time machine, he's attempting another comeback, this time with the Blues. They are going to take a look at him this week and we'll see what comes of that.
Up: Justin Peters.
