Fantasy Hockey News for Friday

A fantasized look at the NHL action from Thursday night

Lots of Jets talk here as it's an intriguing story to watch them fight for the playoffs... Dustin Byfuglien had the OT winner last night and contributed six shots & seven hits to the cause in what was the fantasy line of the night.

Andrew Ladd and Blake Wheeler both hit three pointers for the second game in a row to extend their scoring streaks... Ladd now has 4+8=12 over his last six and Wheeler has 3+7=10 over his last five.

Ondrej Pavelec made some sweet & timely saves last night on his way to his fifth win in a row. He has a 1.96 & .930 during the streak but is still only 2.76 & .906 on the season. At the very least he is proving to be a pretty durable #1 goalie as he's started 39 of the Jets 44 games this year after starting 67 last season.

John Tavares did his MVP candidacy no harm with 2+1=3 last night as the Islanders won in front of the drooling Toronto media. He has been so steady all season and last night's effort aborted a three game pointless run which was his longest of the season.

I believe if you go back and check the details, I said that I would bet on Alex Galchenyuk keeping his hot streak going. Yeah, that's right. Well how smart am I as he played just eight minutes last night but scored on his only shot of the game to give him 6+3=9 over his last nine games.

Craig Anderson stopped 18 of 19 last night for his third straight win and while his .937 in five games since returning from injury is impressive, it's actually dragging down his season average which was .952 prior to the injury.

Derick Brassard bulged the twine twice last night and now has 3+6=9 in eight games with the Rangers. It's been mostly Brassy with Nash & Clowe lately, a pretty good pair to hitch your wagon to.

Victor Hedman with a pair of assist & four shots in 25:53 of ice-time last night. He has played 25+ minutes of five of his last seven games. He would likely set career highs in most categories this year if it wasn't a truncated season.

Those of us that own Stephane Robidas were loving this last night... A, plus-2, 12 PIMs & five hits. His points & shots are down this year but he's a star in the peripheral categories.

Stupid East Coast bias (from me) as my boy Logan Couture deserves some love for his 2+2=4, plus-3, six shots & 11/16 FOs last night. I especially loved the vertical and dish on this Havlat bucket...

Milan Lucic could be a healthy scratch tonight as he has been less than awesome this year with just six goals. Hopefully this will be a kick in the pants. Carl Soderberg may get into the lineup for his debut.

Upgrade: David Savard, Carter Hutton, Alex Petrovic & David Ullstrom.

Downgrade: Nathan Beaulieu.
