Huge Division clinching win for the Caps last night over the Jets and while some surely enjoyed Alex Ovechkin's magical run continuing with 1+1=2, six shots & four hits (11+5=16 in his last nine games), John Erskine was the fantasy star of the night with A, plus-3, 12 PIMs, four hits & seven blocks... yowzers. And it wasn't all fantasy as he saved two goals by sweeping pucks off the goal-line.
The Islanders also clinched, yes that's right, the Islanders clinched and just when you thought it couldn't get any weirder, Kyle Okposo was the one leading the way. He had two assist & five shots and has six assists during a four game point streak.
Jarome Iginla with a goal & eight shots last night to give him a streak of four straight games with a goal (three on the PP).
Lots of Sabres have had crappy years but I thought Marcus Foligno might pick it up a little as the season went along... but boy was I wrong. He has just 2A in 11 games in April and has seen his TOI dry up.
Carl Soderberg could be a sleeper pick in playoff pools as he has points in back-to-back games while playing on a line with Jagr and led all Bruins in PP time last night with 4:10.
I owned Taylor Pyatt at the beginning of this season and was trying to trade him when he had goals in three straight games. Unfortunately nobody took the bait and he went in a uber-slump with just one A in a stretch of 34 games. But never fear, he's back and after scoring last night he has 2+2=4 & plus-4 during a four game point streak.
The Flames went with an AHL lineup that was more Heat than Flames last night and Roman Cervenka stepped up with two goals and he now has 3+1=4 during a three game point streak. It's been a pretty dismal season for the eurovet rookie so it will be interesting if he and/or the Flames will look to extend his contract for next season.
2A for Sven Baertschi brings his point streak to six games (2+6=8).
You know the
season world is coming to an end when Cody McLeod scored again last night and has five goals in his last five games.
The Stars loss last night puts them on the brink of elimination. Trading away three of their top six forwards certainly didn't help but Kari Lehtonen didn't exactly carry the team as he was a pedestrian 6-9-2, 2.98 & .906 over the last six weeks.
