Fantasy Hockey News for Thursday

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

A fantasized look at the NHL action from Wednesday night

Crazy trade deadline day yesterday, I'm a little busy with something else but will get back to you with a post shortly on some of the day's winners & losers. For now, you get this...

Funny how that works... Ryane Clowe couldn't bag a goal in 28 games (65 shots) to start the season with the Sharks but netted two last night in his debut with the Rangers... ah, adrenaline! Let's pile the fantasy line of the night on his shoulder as well for 2+1=3, PPG, plus-2, five shots & four hits.

Derick Brassard was also feeling good in his debut on Broadway with 1+3=4 (three PPP). He was definitely playing out of his head as he was 11 for 15 on faceoffs which is not the norm for him.

Just to put more pressure on Gaborik, new acquisition John Moore also scored for the Rangers last night. He had gone 17 games with the CBJs with just an assist, so I wouldn't be expecting him to explode on Broadway.

The Battle of Alberta was a story of teams heading in opposite directions and the Oilers showed no pity on the hapless Flames. Taylor Hall had 1+4=5 on six shots and is up to 7+8=15 over his last six games, which for those of you good at long division will recognize as 2.5 pts/gm... loco.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been over-shadowed by Hall lately but is on a nice run with 1+10=11 over his last six games after four points last night.

Nail Yakupov broke his 16 games goal scoring drought on Monday night and followed it up with a pair last night. The only logical outcome is a hat-trick next game... book it.

Still with the Oilers, Jordan Eberle notched a pair and has 5+3=8 during a five game point-streak.

Expect to see TJ Brodie on my list of deadline gainers as he should see an increase in ice-time & PP TOI with Bouwmeester moving on. He's played 23:52 & 22:19 in two games sans J-Bow so far.

Charlie Coyle has had a nice run but with the addition of Pominville, his gig on Minny's top line could be up, but he's not going down without a fight as he potted a goal last night.

Antti Niemi ran his win streak to six games by blocking 31 of 33 last night. He's 1.48 & .945 during the hot streak and sits top 5 in each of the three main goalie categories with a 18-8-5, 2.12 & .925 this season.

Miikka Kiprusoff refused a deal to go to Toronto and according to reports is leaning towards retiring at the end of the season. Some might say that it looked like he packed it in already.

Yesterday was a also a busy day for those that are too cool for skool as Jacob Trouba (WPG), Nick Bjugstad (FLA) & Danny Kristo (MTL) all left college and signed ELCs. I like all three but Trouba is the most interesting as he could step in and help the Jets right away. Similarly, as MoP mentioned yesterday, Anders Lee left Notre Dame, signed with the Islanders and scored in his NHL debut on Tuesday. Keep an eye out for this guy as he's an underrated prospect... too bad he plays for the Islanders.

Called Up: Brett Connolly, Brian Lashoff, Roman Horak, Zack Kassian & Matt Fraser.

Sent Down: Patrice Cormier, Jordie Benn, Cedrick Desjardins, Chris Kreider, J.T. Miller, Ondrej Palat, Andrej Sustr & David Ullstrom.
