Lucky me. For the second week in a row, I get a to do a trade analysis.
Gotta like this for MDZ's fantasy value as getting out of Broadway can only be a good thng for his fantasy prospects. I'm sure his owners we hoping for a team a bit more offensive than Nashville, but he should be a Top 2 pairing guy again (Weber and Jones both play the right side and MDZ is on the left). He's going to be an RFA at years end so he's got some nice motivation and a decent opportunity here. I wouldn't expect the near-40 point pace he was doing the last few years in New York, but a 30 point pace is a reasonable expectation.
Give Mattias Ekholm'sm value a bump down as he will likely be moved to the third pairing.
As for Kevin Klein he has only 3 points this year, so he's only helping you if you're in a very deep hits/blocks leagues. No real significant change in value.
Jiri Tlusty was the hero for the Caniacs last night as he went 1+1=2 with the GWG. About time as he has only 11 points in 40 games so far. I'm thinking owners were expecting a lot more after 38 in 48 last season.
Nathan Gerbe with a goal, which isn't really noteworthy, but I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss it. Wow!
Jeff Skinner did NOT pick up a point last night. After a nutso 14 points in 8 games, Skinner is now ice cold with zeros across the board in his last five games.
You know who else has been pretty crappy lately? Steve Mason. He's has allowed three or more goals in each of his last five games. Ugly.
Alexander Semin has a goal last night and now has 13 points in his last 15. I'd take a flyer on him if you can pick him up cheap.
Claude Giroux went 1+1=2 in a losing cause. I hope you didn't unload him after he was pointless the first five games of the year. He has 44 points in 45 games since.
Two red hot Flyers kept it going last night. Wayne Simmonds had a PPA and now has an absolutely insane streak of 23 points in 18 games going. Scott Hartnell had a PPG and has 16 points in his last 15 games. We've been hyping up Hartnell for ages here, hopefully you listened.
Carey Price didn't make it out of the 2nd and gave up 5 goals on 16 shots. Not much you can do except take it on the chin and put him back in there for the next game.
Jussi Jokinen and Matt Niskanen kept their hot streaks going with 2 goals and 2 assists respectively. Jokinen has 10 points in his last eight and Niskanen has 15 points in his last 15 games. Two damn fine impressive streaks.
Justin Abdelkader broke a six game pointless streak with two assists.
With Gustav Nyquist's 1+1=2 night he has a modest three game point streak going. His current 46 point pace is decent enough but he could put up a big year next season. Keep him in mind.
Henrik Zetterberg stopped by the fruit stand and picked up three apples. After four scoreless games he's put up six points in his last three... that's more like the Z we know and love.
Sean Monahan had just one point over his last eight games. So his goal last night was a welcome change for his owners. Considering he's on pace for just 33 points and a minus-16, owners in non-keeper leagues should cut bait (if you haven't already).
There is one guy in Calgary who has quietly been fantasy gold this year. With another assist last night Mark Giordano is now on pace for 44 points... in only 64 games. That works out to a 57 point pace over an 82 game season. I've been leaving him on the bench too often in one of my leagues.
Since he returned from injury Shane Doan had just four points and none in his last four. He picked up a goal so hopefully he can get it going like his pre-Rocky Mountian Fever form.
