Can't be made official until July 5th

F the March Madness... been there, done that, filled out the bracket and lost my money to someone's dog. Now it's time to try your luck at filling out a bracket for the upcoming NCAA Men's Hockey tourney... see the details here.

We had wanted to have all our scouting reports out by Sept 3rd but perfection takes times, so we're now looking at Sept 9th as a release date (slight chance it could be earlier). Hope that timing works out for most people but we understand that some of you had/have drafts that will be over by then.

I was checking out The Copper & Blue, because well the Wings signed Tootoo and Samuelsson and I may never be the same again. Well this post gave me perspective and a good laugh as well.

We invited a few of our most frequent commenters to join the FHS staff in a little playoff fantasy league with the idea that we'd take them behind the Dairy Queen and have our way with them (or was that just what happened at my HS???). Well out of a group of 11 entries, FHS staffers finished 4th (Mike Benedicks), 3rd (yours truly) and 2nd (Diomedes7) but the winner in a freakin landslide was loyal reader i12swim. The swimmer built a powerhouse by grabbing the two key pieces from LA (Quick & Kopitar), another top goalie (Lundqvist) and 1st round heroes (Giroux & Briere). Congrats to Mr. i12swim on the title, we are all in awe of your knowledge.

Thanks to everyone for participating in our Playoff Pool but there could only be three people that take home prizes: 3rd Place: Kevin Hall - 223 points 2nd Place: Kenny Dzwonkowski - 227 points 1st Place: James Quick - 230 points Congrats to our big winners, top drawer stuff!... I'll be in touch regarding prize distribution. Finishing just outside the top three 500 was yours truly with 66 points. Somehow I ended up with a bunch of Canucks & Penguins on my team... not very bright.
