Injury Updates

Wednesday's Injury Updates - Datsyuk, Toews, Lecavalier...

Lets see how magical Datsyuk's recovery skills are

Pavel Datsyuk had minor knee surgery yesterday and is expected to miss the next two weeks.

Jonathan Toews missed last night's game and is day-to-day with a UBI.

Vincent Lecavalier is out indefinitely with the mysterious UBI but it's kinda hard to hide a cast on your wrist, so the secret is out.

No idea how you're going to replace Jamie Langenbrunner's four goals as he has a broken foot and is out for at least a month.

Not sure what happened to Dominic Moore but he left last night's game injured... we should know moore today.

Chris Butler left last night's game after getting cut with a goalie skate... ouch.

Tomas Plekanec wasn't feeling so hot last night... actually maybe he was feeling a little too hot, so he sat out.

Returning to action from the injured list last night: Jimmy Howard, Nikita Nikitin, Carl Gunnarsson, Jarret Stoll, Danny Cleary, Corey Potter & Martin Hanzal.

Tuesday's Injury Updates - Lecavalier, Ward, Ovechkin...

sad face for Vinny

Secrecy is shrouding Vincent Lecavalier's UBI... he left practice early yesterday for further testing but the team isn't saying much other than day-to-day.

Cam Ward sat out last night's game due to his LBI. They say it's just a day-to-day thing but it's already been bugging him for a week.

Alex Ovechkin was seen limping after last night's game & Brooks Laich left early with a LBI as well.

I thought Martin Havlat was supposed to be out 6-8 weeks, well apparently it's going to be more like 10-12 as he is not expected back until mid-March.

Jamie Benn (leg) is likely out for Tuesday's game but Thursday would be nice.

Nikolai Khabibulin is expected to be out 7-10 days with a sore groin... I'll take the over.

This is some kinda flu that Evgeni Nabokov picked up as he has missed three games and will miss tonight's as well. I wonder if this is the type of flu that will keep him on the shelf until either he signs or gets traded?

Tuesday. Jimmy Howard. Book it. (maybe)

Nikita Nikitin (knee) is looking good to return on Tuesday after missing the last 12 games.

Carl Gunnarsson (ankle) should be able to go on Tuesday as well.

Monday's Injury Updates - Khabibulin, Foster, Hanzal...

Good goalies don't give shooters much net to look at

Nikolai Khabibulin left last night's game after the 1st period due to a groin injury... he was likely going to get shelled anyway so this just spared him the embarrassment.

A stiff back kept Kurtis Foster out of yesterday's game... doesn't sounds too serious but Foster isn't a model of durability so we'll see. If he is out for a while then this could increase the Devils urgency to add a PP guy like Zidlicky.

Missed this yesterday... Martin Hanzal left Saturday's game against Dallas early due to a LBI. He is questionable for the Coyotes next game but Coach Tippett says there is "a good chance" that he could play.

Mike Fisher missed yesterday's game as he was under the weather... I've never really understood the meaning of the term "under the weather" but hopefully you get the point.

Louis Leblanc was also sick or est malade en francais and missed yesterday's game.

Returning to action from the injured list yesterday: Matt Duchene & Jason Demers.

Sunday's Injury Updates - Ward, Koivu, Wisniewski...

Ward gazes into the eyes of his enemy

Cam Ward was pulled from last night's game due to his "little tweak" that is starting to look like a big tweaking deal. We'll see if he's ready to go on Monday.

Mikko Koivu missed yesterday's game with an undisclosed injury but the Wild say he's just day-to-day.

Oh lord, why me?... James Wisniewski strained his groin yesterday and is questionable for today's game.

David Backes took a cross-check to the head yesterday and was shaken up a little but the team says that he should be fine to play today.

Zach Bogosian is day-to-day with a foot injury.

The flu has shelved Jaroslav Halak.

Jimmy Howard's (broken finger) return has been pushed back a game, Joey MacDonald is expected to get the start today with Howard going on Tuesday.

Mike Green returned yesterday after missing the majority of the last three months with various injuries. He played just 14 minutes, so they're smartly easing him back in.

James van Riemsdyk returned yesterday after missing 15 games due to a concussion and Andrej Meszaros also returned for the Flyers.

Saturday's Injury Updates - Ward, Benn, Peverley...

If you weren't wearing a mask, I'd kiss you on the lips Cammy

Cam Ward has missed a few days of practice and was the backup last night as he has a "slight tweak". Not sure what got tweaked but hopefully that's all it is and he can return tonight.

Jamie Benn only has a deep cut on his leg, could have been much worse. He is expected to sit out the weekend games but is hopeful to return on Tuesday.

Rich Peverley is out for 4-6 weeks due to a knee sprain. With Horton also out, this should mean more ice-time for Jordan Caron.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere claims his groin injury isn't serious, so his status is day-to-day.

Peter Mueller has missed the last two games with what is now called a torso injury.

Curtis Sanford was place on the IR due to his back injury and he is out indefinitely.

Getting closer... Matt Duchene (knee) could return on Sunday.

Returning to action last night from the injured list: Yannick Weber.

Friday's Injury Updates - Howard, Benn, Zetterberg, Nugent-Hopkins...

Bad time for Zetterberg to go down as he's been hot with 9 points in his last 6 games. Apparently he's been using two sticks.

The whispers were that Jimmy Howard would play tonight but it's Joey MacDonald who will get the start. Howard says he is good to go on Sunday afternoon, however.

Henrik Zetterberg will also be held out of tonight's game with his UBI. The Red Wings are hoping he will be good to go on Sunday.

Jamie Benn suffered a knee injury last night and had to leave the game. I'm hearing it's not serious but he'll likely miss one game to let it heal up.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (shoulder) practiced yesterday in a yellow jersey. He won't play tonight and probably won't play Sunday but looks likely to get into a game next week.

Danny Briere took a nasty hit last night from Patrick Kaleta and he appeared to hit his head on the stanchion. He had to leave the game and did not return. The Flyers are saying UBI and a lot of others are saying shoulder, but it looks like it could be a concussion to me.

Mike Green (sports hernia) will be traveling with the team for their weekend road trip to Florida (Panthers and Lightning). I'm not sure if this means he'll get into one of those games.

Jaromir Jagr (illness) and Andrej Meszaros (UBI) both couldn't go last night.

Evgeni Nabokov had a stomach bug and missed last night's game. Consequently, Al Montoya was lit up by the Blues. Sorry jsuites.

Sheldon Souray (foot) missed his fourth straight game last night. He's still listed as day to day.

Danny Cleary was placed on IR to free up a roster spot for Tomas Tatar.

Returning from the injured: Cal Clutterbuck, Jakub Voracek, Ilya Bryzgalov, Matt Gilroy

Thursday’s Injury Updates – Giguere, Mueller, Clutterbuck...

This is a confusing picture.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere managed eight saves on nine shots before he tweaked his groin and had to leave the game. He said afterwards he doesn't think it's serious.

Peter Mueller sat out last night's game with what's being called a torso injury. If I'm correct here, his torso is nowhere near his head, so Mueller owners can rest easy.

Zdeno Chara took a puck to the chin last night but played through the stitches and it looks like he'll be fine.

Rich Peverley left last night's game in the third period after a knee-on-knee hit from Hal Gill. No word on Peverley's status but we should find out today.

Simon Gagne has been skating for the last few days, but don't hold your breath for a return or any significant production if he does come back.

Carlo Colaiacovo suffered a wrist injury in oractice yesterday and he went for x-rays. No word on the severity.

Cal Clutterbuck is questionable for tonight's game with a charley horse.

Returning from injury last night: Chris Higgins

Wednesday's Injury Updates - Hornqvist, M.Green, Garrison...

Look, I'm on my tippy-toes and you're still taller than me!

Patric Hornqvist missed last night's game with a UBI, you may be thinking who cares but he has 5+5=10 in his last nine games, so this is slightly annoying.

Mike Green (sports hernia) is back practicing but there is still no return date set.

Jason Garrison is expected to be out for 7-10 days due to his foot injury. With Garrison, Kulikov & Jovanovski all out look for Mikael Samuelsson to pick up more PP1 time.

This doesn't help... Tuomo Ruutu is out for 3-4 weeks with a UBI.

Corey Potter is questionable for tonight's game due to a groin injury.

Carl Gunnarsson couldn't go last night due to his ankle injury... sounds like a day-to-day thing.

Returning to action from the injured list last night: Ryan Malone & Mark Letestu.
