Daily Diarrhea

Anaheim placed Mathieu Schneider on waivers, it seems doubtful that he'll be claimed... more likely that he is claimed on re-entry waivers and then Brian Burke is still on the hook for half his salary.  We'll see what happens here... as we've mentioned before Burkie is still figuring out this salary cap thingamajig, last year he had to give away Ilya Bryzgalov and Andy McDonald for cap reasons and this year he had to buy out Todd Bertuzzi, can't give away Schneider and he still might not be able to sign Selanne.  As the blunders continue, Burke is sounding more and more like a perfect fit for Toronto.

Rod Brind'Amour had knee surgery yesterday on the same knee that he had surgery on in February that made him miss the rest of the season.  He'll miss training camp but could be ready for the start of the season.  Shouldn't slow him too much but Rod is usually better in the 1st half of the year so this injury could damper a strong start.

Steve Sullivan will not participate in Nashville's training camp cause he probably will miss the season again due to his bad back... DO NOT DRAFT HIM, we repeat (in jibberish), NOGO DRAFTITO.

Just to show you how much the rookie tournaments are set in reality... Atlanta made it to the finals... nuff said.  But some good news as T.J. Oshie scored twice and Patrik Berglund added a goal and three assists for the St. Louis rookies Tuesday in a win over Columbus.  These two guys are our top breakout candidates on St. Louis and ranked 45th and 47th overall in our Breakout Bible.

Distraction of the Day

What's distracting us today...  we've posted our free 2008-09 projected stats and rankings so feel free to download, take a look and possibly use them in your fantasy hockey draft.  We'll be posting a draft cheatsheet and a little more on how our fantasy hockey rankings stack up against some of the other (more expensive) guys in the next few days.
