Daily Diarrhea

Milan Lucic had a hat-trick last night and now has 7 points in 8 games... love this kid as a player but don't fall too much in love with him in your fantasy league.  He's shown flashes of his ability but hasn't done it on a consistent basis... yet.  It should happen but we wouldn't count on it this year.  Kessel and Krejci are much better breakout options on Boston this year.

Jason Krog is back in the NHL and had a goal last night for Vancouver.  This guy has bounced all over the league and has always done well in the AHL but never put up points in the NHL.  He had some chemistry with the Sedin's last night and led the team in PP ice time so maybe he'll get a shot this time.

Nikita Filatov was scratched last night and hopefully that means he's heading back to the AHL soon, kid needs to play.

Dan Boyle picked up an assist in his return to Tampa Bay, which TB lost.  I wonder if Koules and the Gang are having second thoughts about getting rid of him?  Or were they even at the game?  There's probably a Saw V premiere going on somewhere that they're needed at.  Al Strachan told a story on HNIC last night of how co-owner Len Barrie was in the dressing room during the team's games in Europe diagramming PP formations between periods.... these guys are awesome, creeping up on Mark Cuban as the most entertaining owners right now.

Steven Stamkos got a little more ice-time last night, up to almost 14 minutes and was on the 1st PP unit but still couldn't get on the scoresheet (well nobody from TB could).  Good sign that he's getting more ice but starting to really worry what's going through the kid's head struggling the way he is and being part of such a dysfunctional organization.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page which will give you a consolidated list of injury status):

  • Joni Pitkanen will need surgery to repair a torn meniscus and will be out for 3 to 4 weeks.

  • Stephen Weiss missed the game last night with a groin injury.

  • Marty Gerber is day-to-day with a leg injury.

  • Rick DiPietro was pulled last night because of an injury, the team didn't say much just that he's day-to-day and he'll be re-evaluated today.

  • Pascal Leclaire left the game with a sprained ankle.

  • Johan Franzen left the game with a sprained knee, he's expected to be out for 3 to 4 weeks.

  • Ben Bishop got his first start but had to leave the game with a lower body injury... man, starting to think that Sarah Palin put a hex on St. Louis goalies... Mike Liut beware.

  • This is an older one but should get this on record that maid Marian Gaborik has now missed 4 games with his lower body injury and still isn't practicing.

  • Returning to the lineup last night: Chris Higgins, Tuomo Ruutu and Viktor Kozlov.
