Daily Diarrhea

Tim Thomas recorded back-to-back shutouts Monday and Tuesday and you've got to think that Claude Julien will start him on Thursday in Calgary as well, and given that he has grossly outplayed Manny Fernandez so far, its starting to look like Double T might be taking over the #1 job in Boston.

The rumours of Miikka Kiprusoff's demise were real... but now appear to have been a little hasty... he gave up 19 goals in his first 4 games but has now only given up 5 goals in his last 4, all wins.

Even as Stevie Stamkos works to win over his coach and teammates, it appears he's already in the good books with the official scorer at the ACC who gave him a gift assist last night, which was his first NHL point... not sure he even touched the puck or if he did then it was only to tap it to Jeff Finger so he could cough it up to Vinny Lecavalier which was quickly deposited into the net.

Simon Gagne was 2+2=4 last night as the Eagles beat the Falcons 7-0.

Speaking of Atlanta sporting events, Mathieu Schneider is leading the Atlanta team golf tournament and is out to an impressive -10 so far on the front 9.

Phoenix claimed Ken Klee on waivers from Anaheim, so they'll go dutch on the bill (his salary for the rest of the year), another brilliant move by Burkie.  Phoenix sent Enver Lisin down to the AHL to make room for the much traveled Klee who is on his 6th team since the lockout.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page which will give you a consolidated list of injury status):

  • Zach Bogosian left the game last night after injuring his leg, he'll be re-evaluated today.

  • Brent Burns is only out day-to-day with his lower body injury and may even play tonight.

  • Returning from injury last night were: Andrei Kostitsyn and Sami Salo.

Distraction of the Day

What's distracting us today... the NHL's chief rumourmonger, Eklund (Dwayne Kessel) over at HockeyBuzz, is back at it again, he was on the shelf for a few days having his appendix removed recently but came back swinging this week with a "chain reaction rumour" (wow, who knew rumours had classifications???) about Khabibulin going to Ottawa (e4), Spezza going to Calgary (e0), Forsberg going to Chicago (e?), Murray Bannerman coming out of retirement (e2.7), my toast is burning (e-en fuego)... God bless him, hockey rumours should be entertaining.
