Stevie Stamkos had 3 points, including his first 2 goals (the 2nd on a rocket shot) last night, and seems to be responding to the increased ice time that Barry Melrose was forced to give him.
As we suspected when Briere got hurt, Jeff Carter has really picked up his game and is 6+3=9 in his last 6 games... this guy's a stud, we just wish he'd be a little nastier but otherwise this guy is going to be fantasy gold.
After only having 1 point in his last 7 games, Daniel Sedin put up 2 points last night, hopefully signifying that he's off the snide... in a shocking development Henrik Sedin had 2 points as well.
Pekka Rinne got the start last night and was a little better than his first time out, only giving up 1 goal and getting the win last night.
Jason LaBarbera gave up 4 goals on 18 shots last night in the loss, you have to expect ugly looking numbers from your LA goalies but we're surprised that this guy has managed to hold to his #1 job this long.
Shawn Matthias got called up and got into the lineup last night for Florida, he should be up for a little bit filling in for a few injuries, hopefully he can impress and stick a little longer.
Keith Yandle was a healthy scratch last night, despite 4 points in 7 games, this is par for the course for this guy as he's still learning how to handle things in his own end. He was replaced by Ken Klee so we wouldn't expect Yandle to be out of the lineup for too long, hell, Klee's probably worn out his welcome already.
The NYR experiment with Hugh "Huge Specimen" Jessiman is over after a total of 0 NHL games... Nashville picked up the former 12th overall pick from '03 for future considerations (which were rumoured to be a tape ball which the Nashville trainers will construct after practice today), Glen Sather thinks he won the deal.
Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page which will give you a consolidated list of injury status):
Sidney Crosby left the game last night after taking a couple of shots to the ribs/hip, not sure what the injury was or what the extent is but he's listed as day-to-day.
Returning from injury last night were: Paul Gaustad, Chris Mason and Marty Gerber (dressed as backup).
Distraction of the Day
What's distracting us today... well, Halloween, of course... watch out for all those goblins and monsters, and the kids too. We haven't decided if we're heading out to trick 'r treat yet, apparently last year some people thought a grown man in Superman tights running around the neighbourhood with beer bottles in his basket was a little gauche.... well maybe we'll try a new neighbourhood this year.
