Daily Diarrhea

Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers got back to back wins Sunday and Monday and put in two strong outings.  Last night he stopped 40 of 42 shots during the game and then stopped all three shots in the shootout including a Grant Fuhr-like glove save on Markus Naslund to clinch the win.

Nigel Dawes was a healthy scratch last night after only putting up 2 points so far this year... he's been a big disappointment, to us personally and probably others, this year.

Kari Lehtonen is feeling better and ready to return to the net so Atlanta sent Ondrej Pavelec back down to the AHL after he won both of his NHL starts... its a shame cause he's ready to play but Atlanta won't give him the chance... unless they move Lehtonen, which rumours indicate could happen.

Brent Johnson got his 4th straight start last night and stopped 34 of 36 in the win, so we'd have to guess that he gets the call again on Wednesday although with B2B games this coming weekend, look for Theodore to get back in the net for one of those games.

We had some doubts about how 5'5'' college sensation Nate Gerbe would handle pro hockey but he's handling it the same way he did college... by dominating.  He's 10+5=15 in 11 games for Buffalo's farm team in the AHL and at this pace he'll be up with the big club soon.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page which will give you a consolidated list of injury status):

  • Ryan Malone left Monday night's game with a LBI (lower body injury), its not considered serious but you never know.

  • Patrick Eaves is out with a concussion, he's had a few of these so time to worry.

  • Viktor Kozlov missed last night's game with a sore knee which has been bothering him for a while, consider him day-to-day.

  • Josh Bailey hasn't played a game yet cause he's been out with an injury suffered during training camp but he's recovered and could see his first action soon.

  • Some housecleaning injury news of minor ones that are dragging on:

    • Matt Lombardi has missed the last 9 games with a shoulder injury, but is still listed as day-to-day.

Distraction of the Day

What's distracting us today... it's Remembrance Day in Canada, Veterans Day in the US... so time for all of us to remember and say thanks to all the men and women that have served or are currently serving our countries in the armed forces.  They are brave and amazing people, we salute them and can't thank them enough.
