Daily Diarrhea

Mark Parrish has signed a contract with Dallas, so looks like he'll get a shot with them.  Dallas is a good team for a guy like this cause they have some good Cmen to play with but Parrish hasn't been a viable fantasy hockey option since 2001-02, so don't get your hopes up.  Yeah, we know he had 29 goals in 2005-06 but his numbers is every other category were dismal.

Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 24 of 26 shots and picked up the win when Peter Budaj fell apart in the 3rd period last night... wonder if this gave Colorado GM Francois Giguere any ideas?  We think he could use a new goalie.

Ryan Miller got his 2nd straight shutout and we're still recommending that you sell high.  Kevin Weekes started for NJ and was decent, only giving up 2 goals in the loss.

On the scale of goaltender battles, this one is in the featherweight division... Joey MacDonald v Freddie Norrena.  MacDonald was the victor after Norrena was scored on twice on the same play in overtime (we're serious, although only the first one mattered).

Patrick Sharp had 3 points last night and is 7+6=13 in 8 games since Coach Q took over, which matches the 13 points that Pat Kane has put up in the same time.  If you can get your hands on either of these guys then do it and Jonathan Toews (despite no goals yet) would be a nice addition too.

In one of the gayest moves we've seen from the NHL, they named 5 guys as the 3 stars of the week.  Not wanting to hurt Corey Perry or Teemu Selanne's feelings (or risk an angry phone call from Brian Burke) the league named those two and Ryan Getzlaf as last week's 1st star(s)... then gave Tim Thomas and Simon Gagne 2nd and 3rd star.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page which will give you a consolidated list of injury status):

  • Marty Brodeur will have surgery on his bicep and is out 3 to 4 months... yikes.

  • Still waiting for updates on the status of TJ Oshie.

  • Craig Rivet returned to the lineup last night for Buffalo.

Distraction of the Day

What's distracting us today... E-DAY in the USA... whichever way it goes, we'll just be glad its over, so we don't have to be bombarded with the daily minutia of who's calling who a liar or what Sarah Palin's wearing today or that she's going to name her next child ArtRossTrophy, GretzkyTuck or shinpad.  Although our heart goes out to all those people that devote their lives to this stuff and won't know what to do with themselves when its over.... ahh, well I guess we can officially kick off the countdown to the next election, only 1,461 days to go!
