Daily Diarrhea

Lee Stempniak has been spending some time on the fourth line lately. Ron Wilson has called out Stempy for his poor play lately so if he gets his butt in gear he'll be back on the scoring lines.  It's amazing how becoming a Leaf can make you stink.

Alex Frolov continued his improved play with two more goals last night.  His production is way down from his 67 points in 71 games last year but we're thinking he might have turned a corner.  He has 11 goals in his last 18 games.  He would be a good buy low candidate but don't overpay.

Marty St. Louis had a big four points last night.  He's on pace for only 72 points so Mighty Mite owners are hoping there are more games like this to come.

We've been telling you all about the red hot Devils the last few weeks.  One guy that might be flying under the radar in your league is Travis Zajac. With two points last night (and seven in his last six) he's now up to 25 points in 32 games.  If you're in a big league and need help up the middle you could do much worse than Zajac.

Jonathon Cheechoo picked up a goal and an assist last night.  Could Cheechoo finally be delivering on his potential?  We don't think so.  The biggest factor in Cheechoo's value lies with who his linemates are.  Last night he was playing alongside of Joe Thornton for a few shifts late in the game.  We don't see him sticking with Thornton (especially after Milan Michalek is fully recovered) but you never know.

Buffalo shuffled their lines last night.  Thomas Vanek was on the third line, Jochen Hecht was on line two and Derek Roy was on the top unit.  This move was likely to take the pressure off of Vanek and his minor injury...We're not sure what's happening long term yet, but we'll keep an eye on it.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Mike Van Ryn has been placed on the IR and will be out awhile with problems from two concussions he received this year.  He shouldn't be too big of a loss to your fantasy team.  Time to drop and find some help on that waiver wire.

Andrei Kostitsyn came back from injury and scored all three goals for the Habs.  He's been a big disappointment this year so maybe this game will get him back to last year's pace.

Milan Michalek returned from injury after missing 3 games and had no points in just under 17 minutes of play.  Looks good to start next week.

Distraction of the Day

What's distracting us today?  We saw this cool video showing the time lapse of the construction of the rink at Wrigley on NHL.com:

After posting it we realized it was also one of the videos featured on the excellent (except for the name) blog for theScore.com.  We're assuming your reading both sites so we had to find something else interesting for you. We were going to run with the Top Ten Goalie Masks but how can anything from the Blues be number one on a list?  Then we came across this piece of gold...keep your eyes on the guy in the bubble closest to the camera:

We're not sure if he's drunk or just fell but either way it's funny cause he gets hurt.
