Daily Diarrhea

Satan We're not out to make fun of anyone here at FHS but we do live by Bill Parcells' words, "Your record is what it says it is"... so its nothing personal but we will poke fun at your record...

  • Miro Satan: 1 point in his last 10 games and 1 goal in his last 14. Pittsburgh just can't win lately and Satan knows a thing or two about that after spending the last 3 years on the island.

  • Andrew Brunette: no points in his last 9 and 1 goal in his last 17 games.  This guy averaged 68 points in 3 years in Colorado and then volunteered to play for Jacques Lemaire again?

  • Keith Ballard: Remember at the beginning of the year when he had 10 in 10 and everyone was saying that he was going to replace Bouwmeester?  Yeah, we'll he's had 6 points in his last 32 games and in Florida this is what they call replacing Bouwmeester.

  • Dan Girardi: After a hot start (14 points in his first 20 games) we touted him as a good FA add and now that the ride has ended (1 point in his last 20) its time to disembark.

  • Matt Hunwick: Another guy who came out of nowhere with 14 points in 13 games shortly after his call-up but Hunny has comeback to earth with only 1 point in his last 12 games.

KunitzChris Kunitz lined up next to Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry and picked up two goals last night.  Kunitz is already gone in deep leagues but those of you in shallow leagues might want to jump all over him and hope the sticks with his new linemates.  Perry jumped right back into the lineup after his 4 game suspension and picked up 2 points which gives him 8 points and 14 PIMs in his last 8 games.

Scott Clemmenson let in four goals last night on 34 shots.  He was lights out earlier in the season filling in for Marty Brodeur, but he's really struggled lately.  He's now let in three or more goals in seven of his last eight games.  Might be time to cut bait with the Clem Dawg...or at the very least put him on the bench.  Hope you enjoyed the ride while it lasted.

ElliotReports are swirling that Marty Gerber might get waived...which would mean very good things for Brian Elliott.  Might be a good idea to snag Elliott now in order to get the jump on your opponents.  He was on fire in the AHL and looked good in his first NHL game.  But don't get too worked up...even if he wins the number one job, the Sens aren't the best team to be playing behind right now.

On the prospect front: Nikolai Kumelin was recalled from the AHL and Mikael Backlund was sent down to the WHL (after one game).  Not likely either will make an impact this season but they are the best prospects on their respective teams... keep them in mind for next year.

Yan Stastny is the hottest Stastny going right now with 5 points in his last 8 games but unlike the rest of the family Yanny is only a 4th liner so he's not a guy you want on your fantasy team...  let the same GM in your league who picked up BJ Crombeen have Yan Stastny and stick to the better FA options on St. Louis like David Backes and TJ Oshie.

RolosonDwayne Roloson looked good last night stopping 21 of 22.  Rolly the Goalie has established himself as the #1 guy in Edmonton and expect him to start the majority of the games going forward.

Nikolai Khabibulin, Manny Legace and Dan Ellis also put up good games between the pipes last night.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Sam Gagner has been suffering from an ankle injury but said he was good to go last night.  Good thing his coaches listened to him because he scored a goal and picked up an assist.  Maybe he can keep it going and improve on his 16 points in 36 games pace.

Sheldon Souray also laced them up last night after "tweaking" his shoulder on Friday night, so as far as tweaks go this was just a minor tweak, it seems.

One Oiler who couldn't go last night was Robert Nilsson, he got "rattled" at the end of last game and so he had to shut it down for a game, at least.  Good on Edmonton for adding a little creativity to the injury report... instead of head injury, say "his brain got rattled"... UBI should now become "his shoulder was smashed" and LBI will from now on be known as, "His knee is fubar".

Distraction of the Day

What's distracting us today?  The videos at NHL.com are usually pretty useless and don't really show you anything interesting...which pretty much sums up this video. "Which Hab Wears The Most Cologne":

Is this the best they can do?  Why not give a few bloggers (ahem, like us?) a camera and locker room access, we guarantee they'll come up with something more entertaining.
