Daily Diarrhea

StLouis Despite all the chaos surrounding the Lightning, Marty St. Louis has been putting it aside and concentrating on helping your fantasy hockey team... he's got 10 points in his last 5 games and is a team-leading +7 on the season.  On a related note, maybe Marty informed Vinny Prospal that the season had begun cause he has 6 points in his last 4 games.

We've been quite shocked to see Marty Gerber getting starts lately for Ottawa, that is until you check out Alex Auld's numbers lately as he's gone winless in his last 6 starts and has given up 4 or more goals in each of his those starts... yikes.

Bobby Ryan hasn't needed much help from anyone this year as he's been scoring no matter who his linemates are but with the suspension to Corey Perry, Ryan's been promoted to Ryan Getzlaf's wing.  He played a season high 18:26 and had 2 points last night, which gives him 11 in his last 8 games.

Byfuglien A goal and 14 PIMs last night for Dustin Byfuglien puts him on a pace to finish the year with 40 points, 100+ PIMs and 220+ shots.  Which may not blow your socks off, but stick him back on defense, where he's eligible in a lot of leagues, and you just hit the jackpot.

With 3+8=11 in his last 9 games, now might be the time to see if you can pawn off Mike Ribeiro on another GM cause despite the hot streak he really doesn't bring much to the table in terms of any other categories.

I refuse to recommend this guy because he cost the Leafs Brad Boyes and then went on to shat-the-bed in Toronto but Owen Nolan has 4 goals in 3 games since returning from a leg injury recently and is one of Minny's better scoring options, especially on the PP.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Huselius Kristian Huselius took some lumber to the grill area on Saturday night and although he finished the game he was feeling less than great on Sunday so he may have acquired a concussion.  He's expected to be out for the next game, maybe more.

Bryan Little left yesterday's game with a injury to his ribs, he's listed as day-to-day.

Cam Barker has been taking every other game off recently with his LBI, yesterday was an off day. Doesn't appear too serious if he was able to go for the winter classic but he could be resting it for a few days.

Boston says that Marco Sturm will have surgery on his injured knee and there is talk that he could miss the rest of the season.

Ilja Bryzgalov returned to action last night, getting the start after missing a few games with a sore back.

Distraction of the Day

What's distracting us today?  Canada-Sweden tonight in the final at the WJHC, if the games leading up to this are any indication, this should be a classic.  Below is the All-Time Top 10 WJHC moments for Canada... we'll be looking for a repeat of Moment #6 when Manny Legace shutdown the Swedes in 1993.
