Fantasy Fortnight - Who's Hot & Who's Cold

Each week (or so) we'll dip a toe in the fantasy pool, test the water, and find out which players are hot and which ones are not over the past fortnight (that's two weeks).
(Statistics cover the period from Jan 14th to Jan 27th)

PICK UP OF THE WEEK: CORY MURPHY D TB

Murphy Let's get you caught up on all things Murphy.  He was undrafted after playing for Colgate University.  He went over to Finland and played there for five seasons.  In 2006-07 he was awarded the equivalent of the MVP and Norris trophies.  The Panthers signed him and gave him a shot to man their power play where he was slowed by injuries and only picked up 17 points in 47 games.  The Bolts claimed him off waivers and handed him the job as their PP QB only three games ago (which is why was can't find his TB uni yet).  He's picked up four points in those three games and has averaged over 20 minutes of ice time with about four on the PP.  His plus-minus might be a bit ugly, but when he's playing on the PP with guys like Vinny Lecavalier and Marty St. Louis how can we not recommend him?

DROP OF THE WEEK: JONATHAN CHEECHOO W SJ

CheechooWe're sure you had high hopes that Cheech would end up on Joe Thornton's line this year and get back to his 56 goal 2005-06 season.  Well guess what?  That's not happening.  Devin Setoguchi and Patrick Marleau have firmly established themselves as Jumbo Joe's wingers. Best you can hope for is he squeaks onto the second line but that hasn't happened this year either (except when injuries struck).  So do you really want to waste a roster spot on a third line player who is on pace for 31 points?  It's not like this is a one year down tick either as he had only 37 points last year.  Cut him loose.
