Fantasy Fortnight - Who's Hot and Who's Cold

Each week (or so) we'll dip a toe in the fantasy pool, test the water, and find out which players are hot and which ones are not over the past fortnight (that's two weeks).
(Statistics cover the period from Dec 31st to Jan 14th)

PICK UP OF THE WEEK: MATTHEW LOMBARDI C CAL

Lombardi Quite a few guys we could recommend out there...Rich Peverley, Travis Zajac, Zach Bogosian, Nathan Horton, even David Backes (who isn't on the above list but gives a nice PIM boost) would be great pick ups.  But we're going to give our recommendation to Matthew Lombardi this week.  He's only owned in 4% of Yahoo leagues so he should be available in your league.  His 19 points sound pretty shakey (especially for a c-man) but he's only played 32 games due to injuries...so it's not that bad.  The best news (and the reason we're recommending him) is he's been lining up with Jarome Iginla and Mike Cammalleri in January.  Lombardi is loving life on the top line as he's producing at a point-a-game clip his last seven games.  It looks like he'll remain on the top line for the foreseeable future and scoring at a 50-60 point pace for the rest of the year isn't out of the question.

UPDATE: Lombardo was playing on the second line with Glencross and Moss in practice today (Jan 22).  Craig Conroy was on line number one.  Not sure why Keenan would mess with a good thing but if Lombardi's not on that top line he's not worth a pick up.  Keep on eye on these lines.  Go with Travis Zajac if you need somebody right now.

Coburn, Braydon D PHI  5 0 1 1 0.20 We were expecting a breakout season...maybe next year

DROP OF THE WEEK: PATRICK O'SULLIVAN C LA

O'sullivan We're not saying Patrick O'Sullivan isn't talented...his AHL numbers and 53 points last year prove he is.  And it wouldn't surprise is at all to see this guy get back on track at some point this year (he's very streaky).  Now to the half empty part of the glass.  He's been brutal lately....one point (an empty net goal) in his last 10 games brutal.  Things don't look good for the future either as he's playing with Jarret Stoll and Wayne Simmonds...not the best linemates to bust you out of a funk.  Best case scenario is he gets on a 50 or 60 point pace.  Do you really want to wait around to see if he turns it on for that?  Drop him and take a risk on a guy who's producing right now...a guy like Travis Zajac.
