Daily Diarrhea

Richards_M In a sign that God doesn't hate us (today)... Mike Richards had a five point night last night and by some miracle he's not on the opposing fantasy team that the head scout is going head-to-head with this week.  Richards has been kinda sluggish lately but throw a fiver in there and all the sudden he's up to 13 points in his last nine games.

We're shocked that Marty Havlat has not been ruled out for the year with some random injury and so I guess it should come as less of a surprise that he's been heating up lately with 4+7=11 in his last 8 games.  He also shoots the puck quite a bit and sports a balmy (for Regina) +18.

Tomas Plekanec has been awful this year, he's partly responsible for Kovalev's struggles, but he seems to be enjoying Kovy's house arrest as TP has a four game point streak (4+3=7) so it will be interesting to see how he does when AK27 returns to the lineup.

Luongo It took Roberto Luongo a little while to shake the rust off after returning from that groin injury but the rust has been replaced by a new paint job cause he's now 7-0 in February with a 2.83 gaa & .908 sv%.  The averages could be better but he's doing what he does best, win games.

Fabian Brunnstrom's been a ppg player over his last six games... but he's had three games where he picked up six points and three others with nothing so take that for what its worth.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Meszaros Andrej Meszaros and Paul Ranger will have identical shoulder surgery, on the same day, and both will miss the rest of the season.  Weird, we all know that Tampa Bay is strapped for cash and looking for ways to save but what, are they getting a 2-for-1 deal from a local surgeon or something???... you know Koules & The Gang would jump on that offer.

Rene Bourque picked up his 21st goal last night but then had to leave the game with an ankle injury that looked serious. He'll be re-evaluated today.

Daymond Langkow sat out last night's game with a bruised hand, he's day-to-day.

Andrew Brunette left last night's game with a LBI.  Dude's played in like 500 straight games so unless they tell us that his arms and legs fell off, we'd bet that he's going to lace them up next game.

Returning to action from the injured list last night: Tim Gleason, Steve Ott, Brendan Shanahan and Daniel Carcillo.

Distraction of the Day

What's distracting us today?  Back to a much simpler time when we could be distracted by things other than bizarre videos from the internet.... Our friends (we're legally obligated to say that) over at Down Goes Brown had a splendid piece marking the 10 year anniversary of the old Cashbox on Carlton (aka Maple Leaf Gardens) closing down.  Please do find your way over there and check it out, we enjoyed it so odds are you won't... but it's worth a look-see. [link]
