Daily Diarrhea

Milan Michalek continued his hot streak with three assists last night.  Since his return from injury on Dec. 27th he's picked up 16 points in 15 games.

PerryCorey Perry picked up the Ducks only two goals last night.  After a 54 points season Perry has taken a big jump forward with 47 points in 51 games.  Since missing a few games in early January due to a suspension he's put up 13 points in 13 games.  Who knows where the Ducks would be without Perry and Ryan Getzlaf.

Milan Hejduk is picking up the pace.  After a goal and an assist last night he now has a four game goal streak in the oven.  With 13 points in his last 12 games he's looking like his old self.  Make sure he's in your lineup if you sat him after his ordinary December.

After a beautiful December (15 points), Andrew Ladd had a pretty ugly January (6 points).  He picked up a goal and two assists last night so February might prove more attractive for Ladd.  Playing on the third line we wouldn't expect too much from Ladd but he's one of the better third liners in the league.  One of Ladd's linemates, Dave Bolland, is also putting together a nice run as DBs got 3+4=7 over his last 5 games and is on pace to break 50 points this year... not bad for a kid in his first full season.

McLeod Not sure what you're going to do with this information but Cody McLeod has 5+4=9 in his last 11 games to go along with 26 PIMs during that stretch.  This guy looked to be a pure 3rd/4th line banger but he's showing that he's got a little touch lately as well.

Matt Niskanen has put together a nice little run lately with 8 points in his last 10 games and is looking like a nice FA add as he logs a good amount of ice time and mans the point on the Stars PP, we just wish he offered more PIMs and shots.

Columbus activated Nikita Filatov from the injured list and then sent him down to Syracuse.  He'll probably be back and forth for the rest of the year but its pretty clear that he's not in Hitchcock's plans this season.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Eric Staal didn't play in the 3rd period last night in San Jose due to a LBI but afterwards Coach Maurice said that they were hoping that he would be able to play on Saturday night.

Dan Boyle returned from his wrist injury last night.  He didn't get a point but he played over 29 minutes.  It won't be long until Boyle hits the scoresheet.

BoothDavid Booth and Tomas Vokoun returned from their bouts with the flu last night.  Booth was plus-2 and picked up an assist.  Vokoun stopped 20 of 22 and picked up the win.  Both look good to start going forward.

Michael Ryder left in the third last night after taking a stick to the face.  He's got a ton of stitches across his kisser but he's not expected to be out long.... you gotta love hockey players.

Brent Johnson is going to have surgery on his hip and will be out 6 to 8 weeks, so time for the Caps and fantasy hockey GMs to put all their eggs in Jose Theodore's basket.

Patrik Berglund left last night's game with a LBI, no word on the severity yet.

Two more injuries for Edmonton to deal with today as Shawn Horcoff and Tom Gilbert both left the game last night with injuries... we'll get back to you when we know more.

Going from the injured list to the action list last night was: Joey MacDonald, David Backes and TJ Oshie.

Distraction of the Day

What's distracting us today?  We don't even know what to say about this goal.  Have you ever seen anything like it?
