Daily Diarrhea

Roloson Dwayne Roloson started his 31st straight game last night and may have saved his best for when it mattered most as the 51 save victory over the Ducks vaulted Edmonton ahead of Anaheim into 7th place in the Western Conference.  Rollie will be in net the rest of the way for the Oil, barring his limbs falling off.

At the opposite end of the ice last night was the riddle wrapped in a enigma that is JS Giguere.  He was pulled twice last night (no, that's not a typo) and combined to only stop three of seven shots bringing his numbers in his last 11 games to: 5-5-1, 3.68, .879.  Its fairly obvious that Jonas Hiller is the better option right now but Anaheim seems pretty intent on getting Giggy with it again.

Another assist last night gives Matt Lashoff five points in his last five games for Tampa Bay and combined with eight PIMs during that stretch he might be an add option for the final weeks of the season.

Versteeg Point numero 50 last night makes Kris Versteeg's breakout official in our eyes... surprising season for the rookie as nobody saw this coming this year.  We like this kid as he reminds us a little of Dougie Gilmour but he's gone chilly lately with only six points in his last 14 games so he may not be a great pick in your playoff pool.

The Stevie Stamkos breakout may not happen until next year officially as he's only at 41 points this year but looking at his last 23 games he's had 13+9=22 with 61 shots which projects out to 78 points and 217 shots over a full season so don't be surprised to see a big jump in his sophomore numbers compared to his rookie season.

A goal last night for Brian Pothier was his first point in his fourth game back since returning from post concussion syndrome which kept him out for over a year.  He's been a pretty serviceable offensive dman in the past so keep an eye on him but we wouldn't recommend him for an add or consider him for your playoff pool just yet.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Kessel Phil Kessel is out with an undisclosed injury. Team says that he won't play in either game this weekend and then will be re-evaluated next week so if you have a decent option you might want to sit Philly down next week.

Wojtek Wolski missed last night's game but it was just a bout of the flu, so nothing to worry about.

Two goalies returned between the pipes after lengthy absences... Ryan Miller rode in on his white horse to try to save the Sabres' slim playoff hopes.  He looked solid in stopping 33 of 36 to pick up the win over the Leafs.  Meanwhile Joey MacDonald returned for the Islanders to continue their quest for Tavares, unfortunately Joey Mac didn't get that memo and posted a 42 save shutout vs the Red Wings.

Also returning to action from the injured list last night was: Patrik Elias and Doug Weight.

DIstraction of the Day

What's distracting us today?  With Don Koharski announcing his retirement this week you may have already this video.  But since it's one of our all time favourite videos we had to post it anyway:

"Go get a Donut you fat pig" could just be one of the greatest lines in history.  Classic.
