Ryan Kesler potted his 20th goal last night and although he's slowed down a little recently he still has six points in his last six and 19 in his last 17... so make sure he's in your lineup. We love this guy and his progression has been fun to watch as he's improved on his numbers in each of his first five seasons. Only downside this year is that he PIMs have dropped of a little.
Another Canuck to hit 20 goals last night was Alex Burrows and he has five goals in his last five games and is a must add for everyone right now... his 37 points on the season might not blow you away but if you just look at his last 25 games he's 12+8=20 with 37 PIMs... he can play on this scout's team any day.
Even more amazing stuff about Burrows... his big boost has come since moving to the Sedin's line but the sisters aren't helping him too much as they've gone cold lately... Danny has no goals in his last eight and only three in his last 20 and Henny has no goals in his last eight and only three points in his last seven games.
Erik Christensen picked up two assists last night (and had a goal that was called back) as he's playing on the top line with Getzlaf & Perry and on the #2 PP unit. Kid's got the skills just needs the right opportunity. We'll be watching him down the stretch with an eye towards next year.
Remember at the beginning of the year when everyone thought that Antti Miettinen was the next coming of Mike Bossy with 6+4=10 in his first eight games? Well he's proven to be more like the next coming of Brian Savage as he's only had 8+23=31 in his last 58 games.
He's not consistent enough for us to recommend but Kari Lehtonen can be palatable for short stretches... he's on one of those stretches right now as in his last five games he's 4-1, 1.81, .943 with two shutouts.
Similarly, despite racking up the wins, Mikka Kiprusoff can be down right awful for stretches and he's on one of those as in his last five games he's 2-2, 3.93 & .867.
Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):
Chicago activated Nikolai Khabibulin from the IR yesterday and he was able to back up Cris Huet last night. Look for him to make his return Friday or Sunday, he's missed the past 13 games with a groin injury.
Joni Pitkanen left last night's game early with a LBI, we don't know the extent yet. Ditto for James Wisniewski except replace the 'L' in LBI with a 'U'.
Phil Kessel suffered what's believed to be an arm injury on Tuesday night and had to skip practice yesterday. Coach Claude Julien says that he expects him to be ready to go tonight.
Alex Steen left Tuesday's game early with an undisclosed injury and the Blues say that he's day-to-day.
