Daily Diarrhea

Ryan Bobby Ryan continued his stellar rookie campaign with a goal and an assist last night.  He's up to 43 points in 52 games...that's a 70 point pace over 82 games.  He's the reason the Ducks were able to trade Chris Kunitz.

Another Duck who picked up two points last night was Ryan Getzlaf.  He's up to 72 points in 68 games and is looking like he'll top his career best 82 points from last year.  Hopefully, Getzlaf can get going on a bit of a roll.  Since a 10 game point streak in January he's only scored in back-to-back games twice.

This scout just picked up Anton Babchuk last night, he had been on our radar for a little while with some fine play lately and then two PP goals last night made it an easy decision.  He's now 7+4=11 with a +12 in his last 14 games.

Ryan Suter had a three assist game last night.  That's eight games in a row with a point.  Sure, the other seven games were all one pointers but Suter is still on pace for 46 points this season.  After 31 points last year, Suter is making his owners very happy.

RuutuAnother breakout candidate that we haven't talked about too much is Tuomo Ruutu.  After his 32 points last year you might have been hoping for 40 points.  With two PP assists last night, Ruutu is already up to 46 points and should easily reach 50.  He's been on fire lately (nine points in last six) playing with the two Eric's (Staal and Cole) and would make a good start in most leagues while he's hot.

Mikka Kiprusoff stopped 18 of 19 shots last night and picked up the win.  After four games and 19 goals this gem was a long time coming for Kipper owners.  His wins (41) are off the charts but his gaa (2.85) and sv% (.904) are pretty ordinary.

After his first game in a Columbus uniform without a point on Sunday Antoine Vermette bounced back nicely with the game winning goal last night.  We like this guy down the stretch.  One of the guys helping AV out is linemate RJ Umberger... the two have really clicked and both have benefited as RJ is 3+4=7 in his last six games.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Barker FHS favourite and breakout of the year candidate Cam Barker left last night's game in the second with a UBI.  No word on extent of the injury but we'll keep an eye on things.  Hopefully he can finish his season on the ice and healthy.

Mike Modano sat out last night's game with a tweaked groin... he's listed as day-to-day.

Returning from injury last night were Fabian Brunnstrom and Sammy Pahlsson.

Distraction of the Day

What's distracting us today?  Saw this video of former Devil goalie and current announcer Glenn 'Chico' Resch and how he celebrated Marty Brodeur's record breaking win this week:

It's a good thing that Brodeur has nobody else to pass...otherwise Chico might get a little tubby.
