Daily Diarrhea

Kessel Philly Kessel has missed some time lately between injuries and rest but he seemed quite refreshed yesterday with a hat-trick and four points.  Take away all the games missed recently and he's had 9+3=12 in his last ten games heading into the playoffs and don't forget that he seemed to relish the playoff stage last year vs Montreal.

Tim Thomas enters the playoffs on a six game winning streak for the Bruins and has only given up 11 goals during the streak, so he looks in top form.  Can't say the same for the Bruins defense as they've given up an average of 37.7 shots per game during the streak and are lucky that Thomas responded with a .951 sv%.

Chris Mason posted a shutout yesterday to pull the Blues up two spots in the final standings and gets them a more manageable match-up with Vancouver in the 1st round.  Mason is 9-1-1 in his last 11 with a 2.08 gaa & .924 sv%... so he's hot at the right time.

Boyes St. Louis is also being led by a hot top line of Boyes-McDonald-Backes...  Brad Boyes can get streaky and is on a hot streak to end the season with 3+6=9 in his last five, Andy McDonald has six points in his last five and David Backes has seven points in his last five.

Its taken Danny Briere a while to get going this year but he's at his apex right, just as he enters the playoffs, with 6+10=16 in his last 13 games.  He's got a lot of playoff experience so he's a solid pick in your playoff pool if you like the Flyers chances.

Nikolai Khabibulin seems to be rounding into playoff form as well, he's 5-0-1 with a 1.14 gaa & .952 sv% in his last six starts and his fine form will not be encouraging to the Flames who are struggling to score right now and will have to solve the Bulin Wall in the 1st round.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Keith A few guys that didn't play over the weekend that we're pretty sure were just resting up for the playoffs and will be ready to go for game #1: Kevin Bieksa, Duncan Keith, Zdeno Chara and Nicklas Lidstrom.

Returning to action from the injured list yesterday was Kris Versteeg after missing one game with a LBI.  He looks ready to go for the playoffs.

We'll do a full run down of all the injuries affecting playoff teams tomorrow.
