Daily Diarrhea

You can still grab a copy of our kick-ass 2009 Playoff Pool Guide, for $3.00 if you've got a late draft this weekend.

Guerin Billy Guerin hadn't scored a playoff goal in three years and 1997 was the last time he had a game-winner in the playoffs... well he erased his own record books with two goals last night including the OT winner vs Philadelphia.

Billy G had a little help last night from Geno Malkin who assisted on both his goals and chipped in one of his own to take over the playoff scoring lead.  But the real star of the show for the Penguins was Marc-Andre Fleury as he made 38 saves, including plenty of the beauty variety, to give Pittsburgh a 2-0 series lead.

Claude Giroux has been struggling so far in the playoffs as the rookie was a minus three in game #1 vs Pittsburgh and then followed that up by taking a stupid-useless slashing penalty in OT last night to give the Penguins an unheard-of two-man advantage in OT that led to Guerin's winner.

The Sedin's seem to be exorcising some playoff demons so far as they have seven combined points after two games.  Good start for the twinsies as there had to be some doubts as they came into the playoffs with only 38 combined points in 43 career playoff games.

Luongo Roberto Luongo posted a 30 save shutout last night in game #2, a big night for playoff poolies and he's looking pretty unbeatable allowing only one goal through the first two games.  Louie was a darkhorse goalie pick by a lot of people (vs a Nabokov or a Thomas) and his play so far is justifying your faith.

We said yesterday that we thought Mike Cammalleri would get suspended for his chop to Marty Havlat's face but apparently the league didn't see it that way... bizarre.

Two BU players signed yesterday... Colin Wilson is foregoing his final two years to join the Predators, expect him to be in their opening day lineup next season and the Rangers signed free agent dman Matt Gilroy to a decent sized two-year, one way contract so he'll be with the big club next season as well.

Buffalo announced that coach Lindy Ruff and GM Darcy Regier are both coming back next season... congrats to them on keeping their jobs and we really like Lindy Ruff as a coach and he helps fantasy GMs out as he typically has a good and aggressive offensive team.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Markov There is some speculation that Andrei Markov could return tonight for game #2.  This would be a speedy recovery as he was expected to be out for at least another week with a knee injury.  It will probably be a game-time decision whether he goes or doesn't.

Jamie Langenbrunner left last night's game in the 2nd period with a LBI and did not return.  No word on the extent yet but this would be a huge loss as Langebrunner's probably been their second best player for the past few months.

Interesting story regarding Brent Burns, apparently he played over a month with a suspected concussion before the Wild finally shut him down for the year on March 6th.  Article also says Burnsy is still affected with "severe" post concussion syndrome... yikes. [more]

Daily Distraction

What's distracting us today?  Bill Murray recently sent a woman to hospital after she was hit by one his tee-shots at a golf tournament... ho-hum, until you realize that she wasn't a spectator at the tournament, she was standing on her front lawn across the street from the golf course?  Now that takes talent... here's the story.  We went looking for video evidence and found that Murray has updated his arsenal as he used to just throw bottles at people during golf tournaments...
