Daily Diarrhea

Fleury Despite facing a manageable number of shots yesterday (25), Marc-Andre Fleury had a busy day as he had to came up with a number of outstanding saves to keep the Penguins ahead and eventually emerge victorious.  We were on MAF last series as he was nothing better than average but maybe he's going to step up and steal a few games for the Pittburghers this round.

Geno Malkin has been overshadowed by Sidney Crosby during the playoffs as Sid was magical against the Caps but Malkin's 2+7=9 with 24 shots in his last four games and you don't hear him get the praise that he deserves whereas you always hear that he doesn't have the heart when he struggles for a few playoff games.

Boucher_Bobby Even a few of the Penguins black aces came up big yesterday as Philippe "Bobby" Boucher had a goal (the game winner) and an assist in only eight minutes of ice and Miroslav Satan had a nice breakaway goal to open the scoring.  That was Miro's first goal of the playoffs but he has managed five points in his last five games.

Big game and big Memorial Cup so far for Dallas prospect Jamie Benn as he had 4+1=5 yesterday against Drummondville and leads the tournament with 5+3=8 after only two games.  He had a shot at five yesterday with the net empty but hit the post.  Methinks the Stars could use some of that scoring touch in Dallas next year so look for them to give him a long look at training camp.

Patrick Roy is in denial that he's been offered the Avs head coaching position... right, maybe you should remove those Stanley Cup rings from your ears so you can figure out what's going on... we'd expect to hear his answer soon... or maybe Pat and Pierre Lacroix are enjoying seeing Tony Granato die a slow death and will drag this out a few weeks... stay classy Colorado.

Injury Updates

Cole_Car Erik Cole and Tuomo Ruutu left game #1 early yesterday with injuries and did not return... both are officially out with LBIs and will be re-evaluated today.  Cole's injury was to the knee and appeared pretty serious but EC has been invisible in these playoffs with only three assists in 15 games so not sure how much he'll be missed.

Boston revealed all their secret playoff injuries yesterday... basically everyone on the team was hurt.  The most interesting ones were Phil Kessel, who will have shoulder surgery, and David Krejci, who will have hip surgery... both will be rehabbing for most the off-season and are questionable to start training camp on time.

Danny Briere is having eye surgery, which should just be a routine procedure but with his luck it won't be successful and it will be a lingering issue for all of next season.

Daily Distraction

Bettman2 What's distracting us today?  It will be high drama in bankruptcy court today as Gary Bettman and the league try to maintain control of the Coyotes franchise... this whole procedure has been bringing up all kinds of juicy details that are basically just proving that Betsy is a liar, possibly the most stubborn person on the planet and that he has no idea how to run a successful league.  Sometimes we wonder why he makes us so upset but then we just take one look at the guy and its pretty obvious that he's just not an easy person to like... that and the fact that he's only interested in money and not fans.
