Dosage Express
A hunch about Boyes... shop Huselius... proceed with caution on Fehr, Picard, Brule & Legwand... Demers sent down... David Jones done for the season... goalies hiding behind pretty works of art

Daily Diarrhea

Boyes Brad Boyes is a tap that runs hot & cold and so you want to make sure you're ahead of the curve when he starts to heat up.  Well he's had points in four straight games, nine shots in his last two games and given the fact that St.Louis has been heating up a bit lately, we have a hunch that he might be about to go on one of his signature runs.

Like Boyes, Kristian Huselius is another streaky player and while he's firmly engrossed in a streak right now (5+6=11 in his last eight games), now is the right time to shop him to see if another GM thinks he'll keep this streak up for the rest of the year.

Eric Fehr is a sniper, a two-time 50 goal scorer in the WHL, but has never been able to do much in the NHL due to the fact that he's always injured... so don't go out and mortgage your kids for this guy but give him a look as a short term add as he's 5+3=8 & plus-6 in his last 10 games and potted two last night while playing a season high 17:13.

The Senators Alexandre Picard has a nice run going with 1+6=7 & 4 PPP in his last seven games... give him a look but just don't expect much other than assists & PPP from him.

Parise Zach Parise has a crazy run going with points in 10 straight and during the run he's 9+6=15, plus-14 with 46 shots.  We were a little skeptical of how he'd manage playing for Jacques Lemaire but he's managing just fine, thank you very much.

After a dismal start (only two points in his first 15 games), we don't think David Backes is out of the woods yet but with 3+2=5 and a plus-6 in his last three games, there are some encouraging signs from one of favourite players of last season.

We're not going to recommend him but go ahead and take a look at Gilbert Brule, who over his last seven games is 3+4=7.  He seems to have found a regular spot in the line-up and is gaining some confidence playing for Pat Quinn.

We gave Dave Legwand a hard time for his brutal start this year (one point and minus-8 in his first 10 games) so its only fair that we give him a shout-out for his recent hot patch where he's had 4+5=9 in his last seven games.  We still won't be going anywhere near this guy but maybe that's just us.

Demers The Sharks have sent Jason Demers to the minors and while this is probably not a long term demotion, you should drop this guy and look elsewhere for help on the blueline.  Demers started hot this year with 10 points & a plus-7 in his first 15 games but has struggled lately with 1+2=3 & a minus-5 in his last 12 games.

Viktor Tikhonov has apparently bolted from the AHL and is heading back to Russia to play in the KHL for CSKA Moscow.  No clue when, or if, he'll be back but dude hasn't shown us much of anything and we've never been that fond of him, so we say good riddance.

The Avs waived Tom Preissing with the intent to send him to the AHL.  Stay far away from this guy as he has a whole host of issues but he was fantasy-worthy as recently as 2006-07, so we'll keep an eye on him and let you know if things turn around.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Jones_David Things were going so well for David Jones this year but his year is now done as he suffered a torn ACL last night and is out 4-6 months.  Tough break for the kid but it appears as though he has a hard time staying healthy as this is the second straight year that he's had his season cut short due to injury.

The Dane, Frans Nielsen, left yesterday's game with a UBI, no word on the extent yet but this guy is also a little on the fragile side, so beware.

Marek Zidlicky pulled up lame in the warm-up last night and had to sit out the game.  He has a LBI but we don't know if it will keep him out for long.

Our old friend Joni Pitkanen, who's already missed games this year due to four different injuries/illnesses, missed last night's game with a UBI.  We're sure he'll be back soon, only to be out with a new injury shortly.

Returning to action from the injured list last night was: Tim Thomas, Mike Leighton, Fabian Brunnstrom, Jarret Stoll, Jaroslav SpacekMike Fisher, Tyler KennedyAlex Goligoski and Kris Letang.
