Hiller, Garon and Ward three tenders on the rise... catch & release Fish... Whitney perpetually underrated... Hossa misses one... Bettman & a few close friends oversee arena lighting in Newark
Big performance from Jonas Hiller last night as he stopped 42 of 43 shots to beat the Hawks in Chicago for his fourth win in a row. He's solid as the #1 in Anaheim now as he's started 12 of the past 15 and has only given up more than two goals in two of those 12.
Mathieu Garon has started and won three in a row for the CBJs, expect Hitchcock to keep riding him as long as he keeps winning and maybe longer as Mason has been nothing short of awful this year. Despite this, we don't think you need to run out and grab Garon... this won't last.
Kristian Huselius seems to be having one of his little spells of motivation lately with 3+4=7 in his last five games... enjoy it while it lasts, which likely won't be long.
This scout just dropped Mike Fisher in a league as he has no goals and only four assists to show for his last 13 games... oh, and did I mention that I hate the Senators.
Two assists yesterday gives Ray Whitney 3+4=7 in his last six games... this guy is one of our favourite underrated fantasy players as he's a consistent producer, so he makes a good long-term add, especially for those short at LW.
Don't look now but Cam Ward is 4-2-1 with a 2.12 & .934 in his last seven games... we expect a rebound from him as he can't be as bad as he was to start the year and he's really ramped up his game over the 2nd half of the past two seasons.
Marty St.Louis extended his point streak to 10 games with two assists on Friday/Sunday... he's 5+9=14 during the streak.
Kris Versteeg has a little eight game point streak of his own going with 3+6=9 in total.
Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):
Marian Hossa sat out last night's game with a LBI, nothing serious and with the Hawks not playing again until Thursday its expected that he'll have some time to rest and should be ready to go then.
Andy McDonald had to leave Saturday night's game early with a UBI... I can't find an update on his status as of yet... too bad as he's been on a tear lately.
Kris Russell missed last night's game with a LBI but he's expected to be back for the CBJs next game.
What's distracting us today? So yesterday they finished that game that was suspended in New Jersey on Friday... we were interested to see what kinda crowd they'd have in Newark as the Devils are a tough draw as it is and then you add to the fact that it was re-scheduled on short-notice, the "game" was half over and the Devils we're starting down 3-0. Well the reported attendance was over 3,000 (and Jacques Lemaire called them "lively"), that's actually more than I expected, I was thinking more like 150. But Gary Bettman was there so he prolly handed out a bunch of tickets to charity cases (like Koules & the Gang and other NHL owners).
