Fantasy Hockey Scouts: Daily Dosage - Jan 17th, 2010

Dosage Express
Latendresse & Pouliot trading places and goals... three on the trot for Brodeur but it can't last... give Brouwer, Stewart and Stillman looks... lots of injury news... creepy, weird & hot

Daily Diarrhea

Latendresse Guillaume Latendresse just keeps getting hotter as he continued his sizzling streak with a hat-trick last night... that's 10+5=15 in his last 13 games.  We certainly did not see this coming and even more impressive is that he's doing it pretty much all at even strength with Kyle Brodziak as his Cman (& Havlat on the wing)... bizonkers.

The dude the Habs swapped for Latendresse, Benoit Pouliot, ain't doing too bad himself as he notched his fourth goal in his past five games last night... we don't see this lasting but the kid is still young and seems to be rejuvenated playing in Montreal.

The Senators Mike Brodeur won his third (ever) NHL start in a row last night with another solid performance and expect the Sens to keep riding this guy as long he's hot... we'll be avoiding this situation as although Brodeur had a solid season in the AHL last year, he's spent a majority of his time in the ECHL and has struggled this year in the AHL, so NHL shooters are bound to figure him out soon.

Brouwer We don't think you need to rush to your waiver wire but keep an eye on Troy Brouwer as he was a big goal scorer in the WHL & AHL and has joined Toews and Kane on the top line (see FantasyHockey911) in Chicago lately... he hasn't been lighting it up but with two points last night he's up tp 5+3=8 in his last 10 games while regularly playing 17+ minutes a night.

One of our favourites lately has been Chris Stewart as the kid is doing it all... two points, plus-2 with six shots last night and he's 4+2=6 with 12 PIMs and 21 shots in his last 6 games.

Devin Setoguchi has been having a horrifying season with only 10 goals on the year and two in his last 24 games heading into yesterday's game but maybe he'll snap out of the funk with two goals and eight shots yesterday... its just baby steps but he's worth keeping an eye on.

If you're desperate for help on LW, like this scout, then grab Cory Stillman as he's a proven and consistent producer and with three points last night he's had 3+5=8 in his last eight games.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Elias Patrik Elias left last night's game on a stretcher after taking a high hit... the team says that his head is ok but it sounds like he may have some sorta UBI... stay tuned.

Brenden Morrow and Jere Lehtinen both left yesterday's game with UBI's... no word on the extent yet.

MA Fleury sat out last night's game with a broken finger... its not expected to keep him out very long, in fact he might be back for the Penguins next game.

Marco Sturm didn't play last night due to a leg injury, he's day-to-day.

Hejduk Milan Hejduk couldn't go last night due to a knee injury, he's day-to-day.

Steve Weiss left last night's game with a LBI but its just a day-to-day thing.

Brian Pothier missed Washington's last game on Friday with an undisclosed injury, not sure on the extent.

Daniel Alfredsson returned weeks early from his shoulder injury last night and didn't show any signs that he rushed back too quickly as he had three points... so get him back in your lineup asap.

Also returning to action from the injured list last night was: David Krejci, Joni Pitkanen, Cam Barker, Brett Clark, Marek Svatos and Pavol Demitra.

Daily Distraction

What's distracting us today?  A blog called Psycho Lady Hockey... we've yet to really figure out what its all about, from what we can gather, it may be mostly about driving to hockey games... but J sent this to us, yes that J, still alive and still on vacation... and, I quote, "this girl is creepy and weird yet still hot".
