Fantasy Hockey Scouts: Daily Dosage - Jan 1st, 2010

Dosage Express
We're watching A-Mac, Upshall & Gomez... big nights for Ehrhoff & Eriksson... some funky injury news... one of our favourite moments of 2009

Daily Diarrhea

McDonald We mentioned the other day that we've been watching Andy McDonald lately and we're liking what we're seeing as with two more points last night he has 6+4=10 in his last 10 games... definitely a good long term add, especially if you're short at LW.

Big fantasy night for Christian Ehrhoff as he had the game winner on the PP, was a plus-2 with 4 PIMs and 4 sogs.  He's slowed down a little lately but is still on pace for a very solid season as could hit 44 points & 190 shots and he's already a plus-21 on the season.

Loui Eriksson rang in the new year with a hat-trick and that gives him a very nice run with points in 10 of his last 11 games and 7+9=16 in total.

This is for GMs in deeper leagues... the Senators Peter Regin has been seeing some more ice-time lately with Jason Spezza out and he's responded with 2+5=7 and 25 shots in his last nine games.

Upshall Scottie Upshall is a guy that we've been liking lately, with a goal last night he's now had 5+5=10 and a plus-6 in his last nine games... throw in some PIMs and a decent amount of shots and he could help a lot of fantasy teams right now.

Two more points for Dan Sexton last night and he has 6+5=11 with 40 shots in his last 11 games... it will be very interesting to see what happens when Teemu is ready to return.

Andrei Markov extended his point streak to seven games since returning from his ankle injury and with three assists last night he has a very tidy 3+8=11 during the run.

Markov's return along with the return of Brian Gionta seems to have really helped Scott Gomez get going as he has 1+8=9 during a five game point streak after starting the year looking awful.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Visnovsky Lubomir Visnovsky left last night's game with an ankle injury, he's returned to Edmonton to be re-evaluated, which could mean that its somewhat serious.

How's this for a coincidence... Sergei Kostitsyn pulls up lame before the Habs game in Florida with a LBI and then his bro, Andrei Kostitsyn, leaves the game early with an undisclosed injury... hmmm, wonder if the brothers had a NYE party in Miami to get to and didn't want to risk getting caught in the game traffic?

Dave Clarkson returned this week from a broken leg but is now out again with a leg injury... the team says that he hasn't broken it again but this doesn't sound good.

Sergei Gonchar suffered a foot injury on Wednesday night and its still sore and is still being looked at.

Brent Burns has been back skating for a few days now as he attempts to comeback from his latest concussion that has kept him out of the past 20 games... it will still be a while before he returns but this is a good sign.

Returning to action from the injured list last night was: Cory Stillman and Petr Sykora.

Daily Distraction

What's distracting us today?  First off, Happy New Year!  Alright, its January 1st and you're probably expecting some Winter Classic themed distraction... that would have been a fine idea but we're a little hungover around these parts so instead you get what we think was one of the better vids from the past year, thanks to a friend who reminded us last night...
