Fantasy Hockey Scouts: Daily Dosage - Jan 25th, 2010

Dosage Express
Hurricane Jussi is gathering strength... Ward not terrible... Thomas is terrible (lately)... Stewart has turned into stud... great Hockey Hair

Daily Diarrhea

Jokinen_Jussi Another three-point game for Jussi Jokinen yesterday (that's three in his last five) and he's been on quite a tear lately with 4+9=13 in his last eight games.  Seven of those points have come on the PP and a bulk of the rest have come from setting up Eric Staal, so we could see this continuing for a little while... he's a great short-term LW add if you need one (we do).

Eric Staal's other linemate, Raymond Whitney, is also enjoying a little hot streak as he has 5+7=12 in his last nine games and while he's definitely not as available as Jokinen, Whitney is a solid longer-term add as he's a consistent producer.

While we're on the Canes, should mention Joni Pitkanen as we've seen him floating around in a few leagues and with nine points (all assists), 12 PIMs and 22 shots in his last seven games he really should be finding a home in your starting lineup.

Ward Check out Cam Ward's numbers over the past month... 7-6-1 with a 2.29 gaa & .929 sv%... not too shabby and he typically plays much better in the 2nd half of the season.

Tim Thomas gave up five goals on 18 shots to the lowly Hurricanes yesterday and that makes him 1-5-1 with a 3.53 gaa & .886 sv% in his last seven games... not a very Vezina-like stretch for last year's winner.

Jeff Carter is behind last year's 46 goal and 84 point pace so some GMs might be disappointed and maybe you could get him at a discount but he's been on a roll lately with 10+9=19 & 62 shots in his last 15 games... the Flyers have really been scoring at will since Laviolette took over, so apply them to your lineup liberally.

Stewart Another two points for Chris Stewart last night and he's turned himself from a under-the-radar rookie to a fantasy stud lately with 6+4=10, plus-5, 12 PIMs & 35 sog in his last nine games.

Those GMs that held onto Craig Anderson, despite us (& everyone) telling you that he couldn't keep up the pace from his hot start, are being rewarded right now... sweet vindication for you, as Anderson has won his last six in a row with a totally loco 1.14 gaa & .965 sv%.

The Habs sent Max Pacioretty and Matt D'Agostini to the AHL... both of these guys have been major disappointments this year but we wouldn't give up on them in keeper leagues, we still think Pacioretty, especially, has a bright future.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Steve Reinprecht took a shot in the boot on Saturday and he left the game... not sure how serious it is.

Daily Distraction

What's distracting us today?  A tribute, over at Gunaxin, to some Great Hockey Hair, complete with colour photos of some of the best, including classics like Iafrate, Ricci, Commodore and of course the awe inspiring locks of Zeus...
