Dosage Express
Vanek heating up... the streaking continues... we flip the Habs goalies... Goligoski & Guerin undisclosed... Gretzyk low-lights on his birthday

Daily Diarrhea

Vanek Its been a pretty forgettable year for Thomas Vanek as he's well below his usual pace but with a goal last night he has 4+5=9 in his last nine games... he's had a few seasons where he's gone on a tear in the 2nd half so lets hope this is the start of another one.

The point streaks continued for Alex Burrows and Tim Connolly last night... Burrows is up to 12 games and is having one of the best all-around fantasy seasons of anyone this year and Connolly has points in 16 straight and his is remarkable cause he's usually not healthy long enough to put together streaks like this.

Another goal for Mike Samuelsson last night gives him 8+4=12 with a plus-7 and 44 shots in his last 14 games... he'll contribute in a few categories so he's an asset to GMs in standard leagues.

A shutout last night for Ty Conklin gives him three on the season in only 16 appearances, not bad... his numbers on the season are very solid (2.58 & .922) but he gave up 14 goals in his previous three games so don't be expecting that he's going to steal the #1 job away from Chris Mason.

Halak We updated some Crease Conflicts yesterday and we're officially handing over the starting job in Montreal to Jaroslav Halak as he's been lights out lately, but we still like Price as a buy-low candidate right now.  We also upgraded the status of the conflicts in Chicago, Ottawa & Boston as they're getting a little more heated.

With Goligoski out, Kris Letang jumped up on the #1 PP unit and chipped in with two assists last night giving him 1+4=5 in his last six games.

Artem Anisimov had two goals last night but those were his first points in 18 games, so don't get carried away... we like this guy in keeper leagues as we think he'll be a productive player someday but not this year.

The Flyers have signed 2006 2nd rounder Denis Bodrov from Russia, he was kicked off his KHL team earlier this season and so the Flyers will give him a chance to get in shape in the AHL... we'll keep an eye on him but we don't have high expectations.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Goligoski Alex Goligoski has come down with some sorta injury that the Penguins are choosing not to disclose... he missed last night's game but they say that he's day-to-day... but can they be trusted?

Billy Guerin has the same injury or, at least, its also undisclosed but his status is TBD, so maybe its a little more serious than day-to-day?

Returning to action from the injured list last night was: MA Fleury.

Daily Distraction

What's distracting us today?  Its Wayne Gretzky's Birthday today, he's 99 49.  So we'll wish Wayner a happy birthday with some memories... now I'm sure most people expect us to pull out all those great highlights but that's been totally played, how bout some Gretzky lowlights to mix things up a little (save the highlights for when he turns 50)...

Like the time he almost got Lindrossed by Bill McCreary (yes, that Bill McCreary).

Or the time he faked his own death after takin' a Dave Taylor jab... and people say Crosby embellishes?

Did you know that Wayner stole the puck from the last game in Winnipeg? (didn't he torture the poor people of the 'peg enough???)

And, of course, there's this.

Finally, video of Wayne visiting Vladislav Tretiak in Russia in 1981... this is mostly interesting but the lowlight comes around the 4:15 mark when Wayne, Vlad & Vlad's daughter shake their tail-feathers, so to speak... until the 4:33 mark when Tretiak tells Wayne to stop embarrassing himself and go sit down:
