Bernier shines but he'll head back to the A... the Stamkos Show ends... give Modin & Greene looks... the Prospal Principle holds for 10th year in a row... J-Will returns... stupid things people will do for $5
Jonathan Bernier got the start last night for LA with Jon Quick making babies and Bernier looked very sharp stopping 29 of 30 and then all six shooters he faced in the shootout for the win. He's been spectacular in the AHL this year with a 2.08 gaa & .937 sv% but he's probably headed back to Manchester shortly. How the Kings sort out their embarrassment of riches in net next season is anybody's guess.
Freddie Modin scored last night and he has 3+1=4 with two PPG and four PIMs in his last four games... might be worth a look, we're not big fans but it depends on your level of desperation.
Still with the Kings, Alexander Frolov had an assist last night and that continued his fine production since the break ended as he has 3+6=9 in six games.
The Steve Stamkos point streak is over at 18... good show kid.
Ilya Kovalchuk had his best game as a member of the Devils with 1+2=3 & seven shots and although he hasn't been lighting it up with his new team (points in only six of 11 games), he's now up to the point-a-game level with 4+7=11.
Remember when Andy Greene was a useful fantasy hockey dman earlier this season?... seems like so long ago as he went through a stretch in Jan/Feb where he only had two assists to show for 24 games. Well he's resurfaced lately with 1+4=5 & a plus-5 in his last four games... give him a look as the Devils have a favourable sked with 15 games over the final four weeks and nine of those are at home.
Marian Gaborik had been struggling since the break ended, likely nursing a groin injury, with only one point in three games until he got loose last night with 1+2=3.
Vinny Prospal also had three points for the Rangers and he's been fairly productive lately with 6+3=9 in his last nine games. His amazing career path of showing up every other year continues, here's his point totals over his past 10 seasons... 55, 29, 55, 79, 54, 80, 55, 71, 45 and on pace for 63 this year.
We're not too thrilled with Thomas Vanek's production this year as we typically count on him to be one of the most dangerous and consistent snipers in the league... not so much this year as he only has 22 goals but he's doing his best to salvage his season with 4+1=5 during a four game point streak and is a decent 10+8=18 over his last 20.
Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):
Justin Williams returned last night after missing 28 games due to a broken leg... he only played 12 minutes but did jump right back onto the top line with Kopitar & Smyth (per FantasyHockey911)... give Williams a look (wait a week as the Kings only play twice next week but four games in each of the last three weeks) as he can be a useful player, when healthy, and this line was really clicking early in the season.
Kristian Huselius missed two games earlier this week with a hand injury, returned on Thursday and had two points but now he's injured again and will miss tonight's game and maybe more.
Guillaume Latendresse was able to lace 'em up last night, just 24 hours after take a scary slash to the back of the neck, and he scored again... he has four goals in his last five games.
What's distracting us today? Some website called fiverr.com where people post stuff that they're willing to do for $5 and then... well I'm assuming nobody is stupid enough to actually pay them, so that's probably the end of it. There's a guy on there that is willing to review your fantasy hockey trade and give you a second opinion for $5... damn, how stupid are we???... we've been giving that shit away for free this whole time.
Also of interest to some of you may be... "I will play you in NHL 10 xbox360 (and lose) for $5"
