Dosage Express
Stempy burnin-up... up-tick for Karlsson... Anderson & Kipper hit rough patch... Ennis one to watch... Thornton injury scare... funniest shootout attempt in history

Daily Diarrhea

Stempniak Lee Stempniak is burning out of control right now, 2+1=3 last night and he has 12+3=15 in 12 games with the Coyotes... 12 fricken goals on 37 shots, dude's scoring on 32% of his shots right now!  No, we don't think this is sustainable over the long-term but maybe he can keep it going for the Coyotes final six games.

Another of the Coyotes' deadline acquisitions, Wojtek Wolski, also had three points last night and he has 2+3=5 in his last two.  He hasn't been as hot as Stempy but does have 5+7=12 in a dozen games in the desert.

Tim Thomas stepped up with a big 31 save shutout of the Flames yesterday and while we don't think he's about to win his starting job back, this performance could earn him a second straight start.

Nice night for Erik Karlsson last night as the rookie had three assists and has 1+5=6 in his last four games.  We've been watching him lately as his ice-time has picked up in the 2nd half of the season and with Filip Kuba out, he's the Sens main dman option on the PP.

Anderson_Craig Bad time for a rough patch of games for Craig Anderson as he gave up five to the Coyotes last night and had surrendered four or more in four of his last eight starts... he's posted a 5-6-1 record with 3.29 & .900 averages in 12 games in March.

Another goalie kinda falling apart right now is Miikka Kiprusoff as he was pulled after allowing four to the Bruins yesterday and he's a very pedestrian 5-6-0, 2.80 & .899 in 12 games this month.

If you're desperate for help in net then give Johan Hedberg a look, he's won four of his last five, including a 34 save shutout of the Canes last night... he's 6-5-0 with a 2.84 & .913 so far in March.

Derek Roy went big last night with 3+1=4 as the Sabres lit up the Lightning... this gives Roy 5+9=14 in his last 10 games as he's been on a nice run lately.

Sabres rookie Tyler Ennis scored in his first NHL game back in November and followed that up four months later with two assists in his second NHL game last night.  Ennis has been turning a lot of heads this year as he led all AHL rookies in scoring (23+42=65 in 69 games)... he looks like he's going to be a good one.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Thornton Joe Thornton got a rough ride into the boards and may have hurt his face, shoulder and/or knee... he limped off in a lot of pain, so we're guessing knee and this one looked like it could be serious... stay tuned.

Johan Backlund got his first NHL start yesterday and was doing well, stopping 22 of 24 through two periods against the Penguins but had to leave after the 2nd due to a groin injury, which was the re-aggravation of a previous injury he suffered in the AHL.

Sean Avery hobbled off last night with what appeared to be a knee injury... Leaf fans and Dion Phaneuf were not very sympathetic.

Thomas Vanek left last night's game early due to a LBI... no word on the extent yet.

Tim Connolly had a bruised foot that forced him to leave a game early last week but then he kept playing on it and now its looks like he's decided to rest it as he missed last night's game... it should just be a day-to-day thing.

Peter Mueller had to miss last night's game versus Phoenix due to a hip injury.  He must be hurtin' as you know he would have loved to show the Phoenix fans what they're missing... he may be able to return today.

Returning to action from the injured list last night was: Alex KovalevSteve Downie and Mattias Ohlund.

Daily Distraction

What's distracting us today?  This fabulous shootout attempt by Patrick Eaves last night... me and the wife had a good laugh over this one (actually the wife was online shopping and maybe she didn't laugh but lets just say that she looked up and was semi-amused)...
