Hawks sizing up Stanley... Big Byf strikes again... Toews & Marleau keep streaks alive... Pavelski = invisible... Twins do the talk show circuit
Dustin Byfuglien continued his torrid pace with a goal last night. That's now nine points (7+2) in his last seven games. Oh yeah, it was also the game winner in overtime... his third GWG of the playoffs. All this after going the first eight games of the playoffs scoreless. This guy is as streaky as they come, but we're hopeful he's found a home on the top line and could put up a 50 point / 100 PIM season next year.
Jonathan Toews improved his scoring streak to a franchise record 12 games with two assists last night (24 points in total). We guess being named the top forward at the Olympics wasn't enough and Tazer wants the Conn Smyth. Next year, look for Toews to top 70 points for the first time in his career as he should be near a point-per-game.
Antii Niemi stopped 44 of 46 shots last night... many of the huge variety. One of the goals was on a 5--on-3 so Niemi's night was even more money than the numbers show. Niemi is locked in right now and his stellar playoffs should earn him a full time gig as the #1 tender in Chi-town next year.
Patrick Marleau took charge for the Sharks as he picked up their only two goals last night. Unfortunately his team needed the hat trick out of him. It was his second straight two goal game and he now has nine points during a seven game point streak.
Dan Boyle also played a good game for the Sharks... two assists in over 32 minutes of action.
Where, oh where, has Joe Pavelski gone? He was mentioned as a possible Conn Smyth winner three weeks ago after scoring 15 points in nine games. Since then? One measley assist from last night in five games.
Ian Laperriere is set to return tonight from his concussion issues. He's not much use to fantasy players unless you're counting PIM's
We didn't get to see Jeff Carter last night but word is he'll be returning for Game 5 on Monday. Don't expect too much though... seems like he's getting rushed back a bit.
What's distracting us today?
- Ever dream of playing in the Memorial Cup like Taylor Hall or Brayden Schenn? Now you can.
- More epic jersey fouls from Puck Daddy... Bryzzle? Really?
- Just when we think we can finally tell Daniel and Henrik Sedin apart they show up on The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos wearing the same damn outfits... are you kidding us?
