Leino channelling inner-Druce... Keith heating up after slow start... Brouwer up & down... Svitov wants return... Ladd returns... how you get "Buff-Lynn" from Byfuglien
Ville Leino's ice-time was cut in half from what he played in game #3 but he still managed to have a big impact as he potted the GWG early in the 3rd period for his 16th point in his last 15 games. He's been fun to watch in these playoffs but we're really interested in how this is going to translate to his production next season... this scout is thinking that this might just be a John Druce-like performance and not something that he can repeat over a longer stretch... we shall see.
Another great game from one of our favourites as Claude Giroux had a goal and was instrumental on Matt Carle's unassisted goal as well. He sits 5th in playoff scoring with 10+11=21 in 21 games and is tied for the league lead with a plus-11... the sky is the limit for this guy.
The playoffs started very slow for Duncan Keith, maybe he knew it was going to be a long run and he was saving some for the end, as he was pointless with a minus-5 in his first five games but now 2+13=15 with a plus-10 in his last 15 games after a hat-trick of helpers last night. Oh, and he's playing upwards of 30 minutes a lot of nights as well... loco.
Not to get down on Troy Brouwer as we know he's going through a hard time but this is why this scout is not convinced about him... no consistency, in both production & ice-time. He had two goals and three points in the series opener but then he has a lot of games where he contributes nothing, like last night in under seven minutes of action... it's the sixth time in the playoffs that he's played under 10 minutes in a game. He has a lot of potential based on the numbers he put up in Junior & the AHL but I'm not sure that he'll ever be a big fantasy contributor unless he can land a permanent role with Toews and/or Kane.
Former 3rd overall pick in 2001, Alexander Svitov, says he wants to play in the NHL again... well so would a lot of guys but that doesn't mean anything. We'll see if he gets a look, it's possible as he's a big body who's willing to get involved physically but don't waste your time on him in fantasy leagues, the dude's offensive ability turned out to be a myth.
Andrew Ladd returned to the Hawks lineup last night after missing three games with a UBI and did what he usually does... not much. Actually, he had an assist so this can be considered a triumphant return for Ladder.

Three videos for you today....
- First, we saw this Blackhawk rap song on Sportress who called it atrocious. But it's not that bad. Don't get us wrong, it's not very good, but for an amateur YouTube video, it holds it's own:
- We told you about Jimmy Howard catching a few Justin Verlander pitches yesterday... we now (thanks to Kukla's) got the video:
- Finally, the latest creation from DGB / Bloge Salming... .the real story on how Dustin Byfuglien's name started getting mispronounced:
