Daily Diarrhea

HEADS UP... alright fantasy freaks, the 2010/11 Fantasy Scouting Report hit the shelves last week (and was updated Sept 9th), so get yourself a copy & win your goddam pool (like these glorious dudes)

Byfuglien We were a little hesitant to jump the gun when Thrashers GM Rick Dudley said that he'd like to see Dustin Byfuglien play defense this year, we wanted to see what coach Craig Ramsay had in mind... well Rammer says that Buff will start the year on D, so there you have it.  Now he could still play up front on the PP but they might use him on the point as a right-handed complement to Enstrom instead, we'll see.  But we don't think this is really a great move for his fantasy value as despite having dual F/D eligibility, if he's playing defense then you're not really getting a benefit there.  He's a solid option as a dman as he'll give you 80+ PIMs & around 200 shots along with close to 30 points but if you were holding on to him cause you were expecting him to play wing on the 1st line, then this stings a little. [more]

The Avs re-signed RFA forward Peter Mueller to a two-year deal... he was some-kinda hot last year after getting traded to Colorado with 9+11=20 in 15 games before going down with a concussion.  The head injury is still a concern as he's had a few of those & it took him a long time to recover from the last one but he really clicked with Matt Duchene late in the year and manned the point on the #1 PP unit, so hopefully that will continue this year.  We like him to top 50 points this year but we're not going crazy as he needs to prove he can do it over an entire season.

Andrew Cogliano re-signed with the Oilers on a one-year deal... he's young and there's still some potential here but we're not sure that he'll get a chance to show it with the Oilers now that Hemsky (returning from injury), Hall, Eberle & Paajarvi-Svensson are on the scene.  Cogs could use a change of address.

Hanzal RFA forward Marty Hanzal re-signed with the Coyotes on a two-year deal... not a big fan of this guy as he's just a big tease.  Played a lot last year under Dave Tippett (over 18 mpg) but he's used more in a checking role and we wouldn't expect much more than the 33 points he put up last year.

The Rangers have invited Rusty Fedotenko to training camp on a try-out basis... this guy is a pretty big waste of space if you ask us, especially in fantasy leagues, and so we don't really like his chances to crack the Rangers roster but remember that he's had some good times with Coach Torts.

The results of Brayden Schenn's MRI are in and its good news as there was only minor damage to the knee and he's just day-to-day (what does that even mean in the offseason???)... so he should be good to go for training camp.

Daily Distraction

What's distracting us today?

- Down Goes Brown might get in trouble for child abuse... he's raising his new son as a Leaf fan.  Poor kid.

- Patrick Kane cock blocked some dude

- The Score's revamped Hockey or Die (now called the less cool Houses of The Hockey) goes all statistical on your ass... in a humourous way.

- With the potential (although unlikely) return of Jonathan Cheechoo it's only appropriate that we revisit one of the greatest YouTube videos in the history of ever:
