Injury Updates - Oct 13th, 2010

For a consolidated list of injuries & current status, see our Injury Updates page.

Brian Rafalski will miss 3-4 weeks after undergoing knee surgery yesterday... Niklas Kronwall should take over his PP time and Ruslan Salei stepped up to play top 4 minutes last night.  This should also mean more minutes for Jonathan Ericsson when he returns from a back injury and should get Jakub Kindl into the lineup on a regular basis.

Brian Rolston may have a sports hernia which would likely require surgery and knock him out for a while... which the Devils might not be too bummed about as it will provide some needed cap relief.  He's still being evaluated but we should know more soon.

Martin Erat is listed as day-to-day with back spasms and he's going to miss tonight's game but could return on Thursday.  He's been dealing with this for about a week now but was able to play through it for their first game so it doesn't seem that serious.

Andy Sutton's broken thumb will require surgery and that will keep him out for 6-8 weeks.  Tough blow for Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller as the defense in front of him has been horrid so far and this won't help.  Good news for Fowler & Sbisa though as this means more minutes for them.

The Caps Marcus Johansson took a shot off the foot on Monday and the team says that he's out week-to-week, tough break for the rookie but hopefully he won't be out too long.

Reports suggest that Andrei Markov could return as early as Saturday from his offseason knee surgery.  He's been practicing for the past week or so and we're not surprised that the Habs want to get him back asap... score one for you if you didn't let him slide at the draft hoping for an early return (some reports said he could miss the first two months of the season).

No official word on Pekka Rinne's knee injury but he says he's feeling pretty good and is only out day-to-day... despite that he'll sit out tonight's game at the very least.
